Houthi rebels report targeting five ships in conjunction with Iraqi militia
Houthis statement: “The Yemeni armed forces carried out two joint military operations in collaboration with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance.”
“The Yemeni armed forces will continue joint military operations with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance in support of the Palestinian people until the aggression ceases and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted,” it added.
#FarhanHaq, a #UN spokesperson, said the new smaller numbers reflected those bodies which had been fully identified. The bigger figures included corpses for whom identification has so far not been completed.
"If we're shooting down a $50,000 one-way #drone with a $3 million #missile, that's not a good cost equation," Bill LaPlante, the #Pentagon's chief weapons buyer, told a Senate appropriations subcommittee on Wednesday. #RedSea#Houthis#Israel#Gaza
IF there is no a "wider regional conflict,” as the Biden admin asserts, how to explain:
*Israel attacking Syria, Lebanon, & Iranian diplomats?
*Iran attacking Israel?
*Houthis attacking Israeli ships in the Red Sea?
*U.S. bombing Houthis in Yemen
*U.S. & UK proudly proclaiming they shot down Iranian drones and missiles heading toward Israel?
*Deployment of Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense surface-to-air missile batteries in Iraq, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, & secret Site 512 base in Israel?
While the U.S. is trying to spin its abstention, rather than veto, of the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza as not representing a shift in policy, it most certainly is.
Of course, this is not the result of some change of heart by the U.S. regime, but rather due to the relentless efforts of innumerable folks around the country to lift up the Palestinian cause, to demand an immediate ceasefire, and to demonstrate the political cost to those in charge of continuing with the status quo.
It is disheartening beyond belief that the notion of opposing genocide should require such mobilization, but such are the fascistic times we live in. And while a victory, it is not time to let up the pressure. Nonetheless, much love to those organizing and mobilizing and acting for Palestinian liberation in whatever ways you are able.
🇾🇪 Vice President of the #Ansarallah Media Authority, Nasr El-Din Amer:
—
The first victory achieved by America and Britain is the removal of blue checks from the [Twitter] accounts of state leaders in Sana'a. As for the [Yemeni] Armed Forces, rockets, drones, and all military capabilities, they have not reached them.
It turns out America is a force that should not be underestimated, brothers.
Every ICJ judge (blackgowned dictator who is an agent of ruling class) who chose to give Jewish fascist state the ability to self-certify wrt it's genocide knew the massacres of Palestinians won't stop if they don't ask for it.
They knew genocide won't stop even if they asked for it, but they delivered the order to not even ask for it.
The blood of the Jewish fascist genocide is on the hands of Western Empire as much as these blackgowned crooks.
#Palestine / This is what ethnocide looks like: Israel's deliberate destruction of Palestinian academia
Edit: fixed typo should be al-Isra not al-aqsa
On January 17th, the last remaining intact university in Gaza, al-Isra University, was bombed and completely destroyed by the Israeli military. The bombing of #Gaza's universities is not collateral damage, but part of Israel's deliberate policy to destroy Palestinian academic and cultural life.
Israeli academic institutions have not spoken out against this destruction and its consequences.
Over the past 40 years, Palestinian universities have faced systematic harassment by #Israel, including campus closures and restrictions on faculty, students and academic cooperation.
Since October 7, the situation has severely intensified. In the occupied West Bank, most studies are online due to restrictions. In Gaza, all academic institutions have been destroyed, along with schools, libraries, archives and other educational sites.
Hundreds of students and faculty members have been killed in the bombings. At least 94 university staff members in Gaza are reported dead. Prominent academics have been specifically targeted and killed.
This represents an almost complete destruction of Palestinian academic life that will take years to rebuild. Surviving students and staff are traumatized, grieving and displaced.
Palestinian intellectual life is critical for society. Israel's systematic targeting of #academia is aimed at erasing not just physical infrastructure but Palestinian cultural and spiritual life.
Dr. Anat Matar (ענת מטר): "As Israeli academics, we must raise our voices against the killing of students and colleagues, mass arrests, and the annihilation of education in Gaza."
A cruise missile launched by the #Houthis into the Red Sea on Tuesday night came within a mile of a US destroyer before it was shot down, four US officials told CNN, the closest a Houthi attack has come to a US warship.
Why yes, I AM still getting deluged by trolls who are intentionally calling me Pro Genocide after my earlier post.
Thanks for asking.
Adding: I did not take a stand on anything other than to stop calling Biden "pro genocide," and saying that disagreement with his policies is fine by me & that I don't discuss that war in my feed... because of... this kind of reaction by trolls and others who are trolls in training, apparently.
#GeoPol
Oops, I do take stands against or pro both sides, as I feel appropriate.
The subject is too important and the conflict helps #Russia, #Iran, and the #Houthis, among others,
and makes matters worse for the #Palestinians, the #Jewish people globally, and the #Ukrainians, in particular.
If you're like me you'll want to watch this a thousand times, and then a thousand more!
Dr. Myriam François deserves our gratitude for keeping her cool and not letting herself be shut down, and shame on whoever that host is for arguing with her and on Bill Browder for staying quiet when he should have vigorously taken her side. I guess he's the kind of activist who only despises Russian genocidal regimes.
“US & British militaries bombed multiple sites used by Iranian-backed #Houthis in Yemen on Monday, 2nd time the 2 allies conducted coordinated retaliatory strikes on an array of the rebels’ missile-launching capabilities, several U.S. officials said.
@GottaLaff The #Houthis are no better than #Hamas or #Netanyahu. They ought to defend #Yemen against Saudi aggression; that would be fully legit and justified. But they chose, with no objective reason, to get involved in another war by inane acts of one-upmanship targeting noncombattants. Whoever gratuitously attacks civilian targets deserves to get hurt plenty.
But as for USUK, they need to be more careful in their choice of targets than they presently are. Their attempt to not harm civilians, while laudable in theory, is lacklustre and insufficient in practice.
And while any purely military installation used to attack civilian shipping is fair game for all I care, USUK attacks have endangered or even harmed Yemeni civilians, which is intolerable and inexcusable even if it is unintentional.
It is well possible to be more cautious, and be more cautious they must!
Casting round for strategies to save hime from an electoral disaster, has #RishiSunak decided that defending shipping in the gulf by attacking the #Houthis is his #fFalklands?
Certainly, there is the advantage that this is a conflict few are clear about, and the protagonists are unlikely have the reach to attack UK #voters... so, may we see Rishi sabre-rattling & talking about defending #democracy over the next few weeks?
