    People publishing on itch! I often see older games popping up in the "Latest physical games" list months after their initial publication. I initially thought it was due to devlogs being published, but that doesn't seem to be the case...
    Anyone knows this weird trick that 98% publishers hate?

    One thing KILL THE CANDY KING is making me reflect on is the way I do structured stories in games. To me, it's a board game like approach. There are counters or mission parameters to be accomplished per phase. But I still run firmly sandbox in it.

    @thoughtpunks@dice.camp avatar

    It stands out to me that tend to be heavy handed when it comes to story structures. Adventure modules with the clear line of plot dots are a classic example. But also "narrative" games that bake a lot of hard rules for story. There's fewer examples of counters + sandbox.

    One last try. 90 away from making this specialist visit. Really need to see this doctor for a medication refill. Help a disabled weirdo out. Direct welcome, but rewards available!

    They already pushed me to end of day. Running out of time. Any assistance appreciated. Happy to negotiate custom rewards!

    What is it about that makes them so difficult to grasp? Other don't need so much self-explanation or extensive play examples. Similar pursuits like participatory theater, mystery games, and other parlor games don't need them either. So why for RPGs?

    Do not let a medieval setting bring out the outmoded and dehumanizing views that were historically accurate. That's not realism. That's just being an asshole.

    Unless it is something the players can punch in the face, that is.

    When I hear people say in that they like to make up the character’s backstory and personality as they play rather than beforehand or at a session 0, I think they must have players that are far better at improv than the ones I play with.

    In my experience, if a character doesn’t have a backstory at the beginning, they never will have one.
