Mr. Rufous Hummingbird at the buffet.

I found out that hummingbirds have a routine. If you wait 10 to 15 minutes, they will come back to that bush, in case you missed your first shots. Be patient! I photographed this one yesterday. They are common here on Vancouver Island.

    Only three grams but such a gutsy fighter: to defend its turf, the Allen’s Hummingbird will battle crows, mockingbirds and even Cooper’s hawks 100 times its weight. #naturephotography #birds #birders #birdwatchers #birdwatching #naturephotos #LAWildlife #losangeles #GriffithPark #GriffithParkBirds #BirdsOfPixelfed #hummingbird #AllensHummingbird

I’m literally obsessed with the way the pine tree holds light. The pine needles, the leaking sap, the spiderwebs - they all contribute to a magical ever changing light that is so much fun to try to capture. My family wonders how I can be out there taking pix of the same bird in the same tree. Obviously it’s NEVER the same but they don’t get it 😆

@Catlynn I’ve been shooting the same Allen’s hummingbird for at least four years.

@Jgbird oh good! I feel less crazy now. I was starting to think if someone saw my camera roll I might be institutionalized against my will 😉☺️
