We don’t know Jozy’s exact birthdate, but we suspect it is in June…so I feel like I am overdue for an update with some recent favorite photos.
She’s 17, a cancer survivor (!!!), walking every day, sleeping when she’s not eating or walking 😉, has figured out and mastered her secret way to sneak up on the couch, and is still the best rescue dog ever.
Earlier this week I met Vespa, dog-in-residence at Outdoor Twente. She has a special collar with instructions for guests 😂. Doesn’t stop her from trying to use those big watery puppy dog eyes on you 😁 #DogsOfMastodon
(Label on the collar translates as “I eat kibble, most human grub upsets my stomach”)
Cookie, born 01 Oct 2009 in Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Died 20 June 2024 in the Tenderloin, San Francisco, California. She loved adventures and naps equally. She ate delicious food daily. She slept on multiple soft pillows and blankets everywhere. She walked, climbed, ran, and she finally lay down to sleep in my arms.
My grief is an ocean, but I am glad she got to touch so many lives on the Internet, and everywhere she went.
Hi, I’m Val. Welcome to my new backup account! I’m here for the photos: to share mine and to admire yours. Mostly of nature: flowers, insects (with content warning for all except butterflies that don’t seem to creep people out), my dog, the sky,... I’ll post here regularly but not too frequently. Kind of a ValLite™️ account.

A few min ago, we said goodbye to our baby Cookie, who lived till 14 years and 8 months. She was born in Malaysia, lived in Singapore, stopped over in Finland where she picked up a EU pet passport, and lived the last 6 years of her life in San Francisco where she was greatly beloved by all.
She had two beautiful and healthy months with us, from her last ER visit. After another one this week, we learned that she would decline further.

The #swimmers requested #TherapyDogs to minimize their #anxiety at the #Olympics. “So many people find animals as a calming essence,” said Emily Klueh, manager of #MentalHealth & #emotional#wellness for USA Swimming. “athletes are looking for … environments where they can get away from the hype, [where] they can calm their nervous systems down.”
Starting a thread about my life with Cookie, while she’s in intensive care right now in San Francisco. She’s still conscious, but it’s not looking great. Even if she gets to come home I think it’s time to prepare to say goodbye to her.
This was the very first time I saw her.
I was 24 years old. I’d just moved to Petaling JayaX Malaysia. With the first serious girlfriend I had. We thought it’d be a great idea to get a dog.
Sad to say, she passed this morning. Cookie lived a grand, amazing life. She brought me so much joy. I am so thankful for the last two months of extra time that she gave us.
All of these photos were taken in June 2024. She was happy and mobile and lucid, and she passed at home surrounded by people who love her. 14 years and 8 months of joy and happiness. She taught me so much. I will always love you Cookie
