My doggo feels most safe when he sleeps like this, his bum right next to mine. I have been traveling a lot lately, so this morning first thing we had to go for a looong walk (in the rain) and now it's time for safety bum.
(After this bum-to-bum-contact he just sighed happily and fell asleep. 😀 )
Arriving at a rural property, an #Arizona#sheriff’s deputy approaches a group of starving dogs behind a fence. Some are sleeping, others bark & wag their tails. The deputy lays out food & water to corral them, body-cam video shows.
The deputy then pulls out a gun & shoots them 1 by 1, killing 7, before dragging their bloodied bodies to his truck. He later dumped the bodies near RR tracks.
The #Arizona#HumaneSociety called the situation “entirely preventable” & lamented that the #sheriff’s office had not asked it for help.
“This awful incident lacked all compassion & judgement,” Jennifer Armbruster, a spox for the humane society, said in a stmnt. “And what is most clear is that establishing an #animal care & control service in #ApacheCounty is an absolute necessity to prevent something like this from happening in the future.”
The vet not only pulled Cookie back from the brink of mortality, she also seemed to have given Cookie some additional youthfulness. Cookie now has the energy of a puppy, wants to go on walks all the time, do everything, see and eat everything, everywhere. I’m a little tired keeping up with her. 15 years old in October!!
I love it when her little ear stands up almost quizzically. She’s asking permission to jump on my lap. She is the goodest girl. Such polite. 🥰#dogsofmastodon
J’ai toujours adoré les chiens, même si je n’en ai pas eus quand j’étais enfant. Lorsque la décision d’adopter a été prise, j’étais loin d’imaginer que je tomberais autant en amour avec ces quadrupèdes facétieux, drôles, intelligents et tellement aimants. Impossible pour moi d’imaginer ma vie sans eux (quand bien même je sais qu’ils ne sont pas éternels).
Aujourd’hui j’ai la chance de vivre avec Gunther le bouledogue français et Lucien le beagle et je ne changerais pour rien au monde.

As Brandon Garrett lay stranded in a ravine in Oregon last week, his dog Blue was running through the densely wooded area, toward help.
Blue, a whippet, ran for nearly 4 miles w/glass in his snout & made it to a campsite where they had been before & where Garrett was supposed to be meeting his friend.
