Glad you enjoyed it :-) if you have soldered everything else so far then I'm sure the couple of SMT parts on the Wifi Module won't put up too many challenges.
@rc2014 Yeah, I imagine not. Might give it a go tomorrow just so it's all done. For now though I'm watching videos, reading documentation and getting a better handle on the software side of what I've assembled!
@vampiress
Congrats on the successful soldering job. My biggest soldering issues are I like to use TSSOP and BGA parts.
Someday I may try to make a computer out of discrete parts, or at least an art clock. Possibly do it with CMOS style gates.
This PCB is what I'm designing right now. It has a Teensy 4.0 controlling a LCD touch screen, two DC to DC power supplies and 3 power monitor chips. Simple stuff. I still need to add a keyboard, and reset switch.
So, some context: I bought an RC2014 Zed Pro Pride edition last year. Did quite a bit of assembly early on, them life got away from me and (and I hit the surface-mount soldering part) so I stopped assembling it.
With the Z80 reaching end of life, I figured it was time to finish the thing. Got all but the wifi module soldered tonight and figured I'd take a break to just... see how badly I’d screwed up.
It's still possible, of course, that I have bungled something and bits won't work but... this at least means that the CPU module, ROM, RAM, CF Card and VGA modules must surely work. Oh, and the clock? I guess?
I've got a lot to learn about this glorious #Z80 based beast.
