After being gagged, Trump posts, that members of the jury are "liberal activists".

Violating the gag order can lead to 30 days in jail.

Jury tampering, years in prison.

Put this man behind bars.

PointlessSpike ,
@PointlessSpike@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl Amazing that they just happened upon "liberal activists" in a random jury selection process. Almost like you can pick random people and find that they don't like fascists!

hakuin ,
@hakuin@mstdn.social avatar

@randahl IN the US legal system, first the gag order is put in place. Initial violations result in a warning. Next violations result in a modest (for Trump) fine, $1000-$15,000, subsequent violations can lead to, but don't have to, jailing, for up to 30 days. Apparently this is done to remove grounds for appeal, by showing there were real attempts made to stop defendents bad behavior. The judges are fully aware of this sequence.

@randahl To say nothing of the fact that Jesse Watters is creating a permission structure for his captive right-wing audience to dismiss any guilty verdict, if one comes.

@randahl If this was anybody else besides Trump, they'd be in jail for contempt. What makes Trump different? The lady justice isn't wearing her blindfold tightly enough!

scottytrees ,
@scottytrees@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl you and I both know, he ain't going to jail over this. Sometimes I just don't want to read the news unless something finally actually legit happened. Still holding my breath on that, fingers crossed we get some justice in the end.

randahl OP ,
@randahl@mastodon.social avatar

@scottytrees Just remember who won the election in 2020.

Trump lost, and now he is in an even worse position, having lost a rape case, being on trial for election interference, having attacked the capitol, not being the incumbent, not being able fundraise as much as Biden, etc., etc., etc.

I am aware, some of the cases may be delayed until after the election, but if Trump is convicted just once from now until November, that will move even more voters away from him.

scottytrees ,
@scottytrees@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl Yes, you are right, so in that regard, my mind is at an easier peace.

About half the states (AL, TX, FL, OH, etc) I still can't shake a depressing worry of where things may still lead. I just hate seeing fellow citizens, fellow humans, suffering for all this b.s. I don't want The Troubles to happen here.

I do worry that some states will manufacture more "interference", voter suppression, fake electors etc

My expectation is much like your own, I expect at least one trial to stick.

maga acolytes use quite often propaganda tactic, 180 degrees projection. projecting their own issues to the other side as lying.

i wonder, is opposite the truth ?!

@randahl

Why isn't he denied access to his phone? Why doesn't someone shove a sock in his mouth? Why doesn't someone LOCK HIM THE FUCK UP for violating the gag order numerous times? If you or I did it, we'd be hauled out of the courtroom and thrown in a cell.

nlpbot ,
@nlpbot@mstdn.social avatar

@randahl The judge should let him go a little - let him do the jury tampering thing and lock him up over that alone.

At this point, I'm afraid that they won't even go that far.

@randahl Is it actually him posting though, because there was a report that stated his account was posting while he was in court - so perhaps he has a lacky, or maybe it's Don Jr, when he's not busy doing his lines

@randahl What is this business of using "liberal" as an insult about anyway? Are the gammons really being open about being proud about being illiberal?

capnthommo ,
@capnthommo@c.im avatar

@randahl catching? What, like criminals on the run? As opposed to being ordinary citizens who simply do not pass the test. This combined with the urging the other day from some maga that trumpets do all they could to get on the jury so they could vote innocent (presumably regardless of any evidence) and cause a miss trial. They do have some bizarre notions don't they. Very poor grasp of how the court system works.

caludio ,
@caludio@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl wait, but what is a "liberal activist" now? Is what right wing extremists used to call them "commies" but now they can't anymore because of the risk to interfere with putin's ideology?
