“People who are still taking COVID precautions seriously have every right to be angry about being abandoned by public-health officials and experts. The very real pain that many people are experiencing has not been sufficiently acknowledged.” -me to TIME
@luckytran part of this article's framing seems misleading: the line about "a sentiment that reflects a growing rift between America’s scientists and the COVID-cautious community" ignores the fact that most of the actual public health experts, virologists, etc are advocating for bringing back serious COVID safety measures, while the so-called "experts" cheering on the CDC's reckless abandonment of public health protections are mostly government/corporate mouthpieces or otherwise severely lacking in credibility.
@luckytran I’m feeling abandoned in Canada, too. Found out yesterday that rapid tests are no longer readily available, and my doctor’s office won’t refill a prescription for me over the phone/internet even though I’m sick and contagious with something. They insisted I go there in person even though my doing so would risk people’s health/lives. I’m choosing to go without my meds rather than have that on my conscience.
