I used Advanced Search for old tweets daily so I’m making my posts searchable via Tootfinder. But I guess we're getting search on Mastodon now too, which is nice

Ginni Thomas was directly involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Yet Clarence Thomas didn't recuse himself from arguments today in a case about the January 6 insurrection.

How is this not a scandal of epic proportions?

@rbreich @indivisibleteam

It is a scandal

Many things in our system are scandals

But our system is set up to prevent us from changing them

So, like families finding ways to live with abuse, all kinds of coping strategies obscure the fact that our democracy is broken and needs fundamental change

Voting reform, Supreme Court and Senate/Congressional term limits, voting rights, redistricting/gerrymandering, for gosh sakes bribery/campaign-funding/insider-trading reform…

Not to mention several Amendments and a bunch of other founding flaws in the Constitution, including probably that it’s so damn hard to amend

We’re stuck with the framework of a 250 year old slave state trying to maintain its hold on world power with a very fragile fading democracy shattered by the return of a feudal

Thank for starting that. The most damaging President in living memory (Trump was just a result)

“People who are still taking COVID precautions seriously have every right to be angry about being abandoned by public-health officials and experts. The very real pain that many people are experiencing has not been sufficiently acknowledged.” -me to TIME

Good article

I agree with the last comment. I don’t necessarily want all the recommendations to be the same as mine

I just want them to tell people what the consequences of their recommendations will be

Like if they said, “We have adjusted our recommendations, so that only 1000+ people a day will die”

“If everyone wore quality masks and had good ventilation, then less than 200 people a day would die [or whatever], but nobody wants to do that“
