Jemar Tisby provides valuable backstory to Trump's blasphemous peddling of a Christian nationalist bible combining American political texts and the biblical text. The idea for this blasphemous project started several years ago with a man named Hugh Kirkpatrick of Elite Source Pro.
He proposed to Zondervan a "God Bless USA" bible to meet needs of parents home-schooling children who were disturbed by the Black Lives Matter movement.
As J. Tisby states, "A custom Bible inspired by reactionary sentiment opposing Black Lives Matter protests is concerning on its own."
Tisby and other Zondervan authors then protested and the project was stopped, only now to re-emerge as a project explicitly linked to Trump.
