Archarzel , 3 months ago @SJohnRoss as time goes on the idea of a game designer has become more "engineer" than "storyteller" - which is objectively tragic. Gygax and Arneson weren't brilliant game designers - they were worldbuilders presented with an opportunity. Now the rush is on to create a mechanically complete ttrpg that fits on a postcard.

Archarzel , 3 months ago @SJohnRoss oh agreed- you have to focus on the things that ttrpgs can do that other forms of play cannot- apply critical thinking and creative problem solving to a fantasy setting. Storytelling might be the wrong word here- Storyweaving perhaps.
