Are the Tories considering an October election, because new students would have been unable to register in their new constituencies (due to relocating for university)?

Given the likelihood that this generation would not vote for them, it may be a move (like the skewed voter ID policy) to disenfranchise young opponents.

On one hand it seems like a conspiracy theory, but on the other I'd put nothing beyond a desperate Tory party right now.

@ChrisMayLA6 I’ve always thought it was better for students to apply for a postal vote back home, especially as you might be moving about a bit from halls to private rented accommodation over the three years and just beyond in a first job. Your parents can then just forward the papers to your current address.

My guess, if the plan is actual, would be that the confusion for first-time voters, about how & where to vote (alongside the difficulties cited) would mean they would not vote anywhere
