I tried to brush him today, but he wasn't having any of it lol... his fur is so long and it's getting warmer, so I'm sure it will make him more comfortable when I can get him a good grooming 🙂
@dalfen He has thick, long hair and a thick undercoat, which is somehow kind of sticky. The fur on his undercarriage is curly, but on his tail, it's like wire, while on the body, it's soft. He gets really overheated in the summer.
All are designed to look messy, get knotty and dirty. He collects things in his fur like slugs and seeds but is incapable of cleaning himself properly.
He would not survive unsupervised in the wild. Therefore, he is a genetic mess, unlike me, who is a perfect cat.
@Colin Oh I hear you there. Sometimes Sammy’s fur looks so nice and other times it’s so obvious that he needs a good brushing.
I tried to help him out the other day with a brush that does a great job getting the undercoat, but he really wasn’t interested lol… I’ll have to try again soon 😁🎉
@dalfen Eric gets groomed nearly every day, but he still looks a mess. He gets static from brushing, which makes more rubbish stick to him. Within hours, he can develop new knots so big they attach his leg to his body, which have to be cut off. The humans have taken to trimming the undercarriage fur with scissors so this doesn't happen (as much).
The tall human thinks they should shave him to save all the work. Sometimes, without the furcut, he gets knots so bad they tear his skin.
@Colin@dalfen 😳 😳 SHAVE that poor creature! Good grief! What a plight! Juju has long, soft fine fur with no undercoat. It flies everywhere and gets stuck on people, but seems happy to leave him unmolested. I wish the same could be said for everything else in this house.
@thepoliticalcat@dalfen It might be preferable to the massive knots on his undercarriage that get attached to the knots on his legs. He's made himself bleed by trying to run like that.
