Trump picked three Supreme Court justices and now it pays off.
Not that the supreme court is helping Trump legally, but by deciding to hear Trump's frivolous claim of having absolute immunity from crimes, they are now helping him procedurally by delaying his trial for months.
This means the Jack Smith trial in DC, which could put Trump in prison for many years, likely will not be able to reach a verdict before the next election.
If the US falls into autocracy, this was how it happened.

If the U.S. falls into authoritarianism it will be because too many Americans fell for Russian political technology efforts towards turning them away from supporting Democrats during this crucial year in our history.
But the good news is, the delay alone will not save Trump for two reasons:
Trump's hush money trial in Manhattan is about him interfering in the 2016 election BEFORE he became president, and that trial will still begin on March 25.
For Trump's delay tactics to work, he would still have to get reelected by the American voters in order to get back in power, so he could abuse the presidency once more to make his legal cases go away.
American democracy is in peril, but it is not over.
