This has totally been a non-issue for me, both on this instance (thank you @tchambers!) and several other instances including two different single-purpose ones I operate myself.
Compared to issues of spam I've had to deal with even on commercial services in years past, this has totally been a nothing burger. As far as I'm concerned, it just highlights how strong the #fediverse really is in dealing with temporary glitches.
