This has totally been a non-issue for me, both on this instance (thank you @tchambers!) and several other instances including two different single-purpose ones I operate myself.

Compared to issues of spam I've had to deal with even on commercial services in years past, this has totally been a nothing burger. As far as I'm concerned, it just highlights how strong the really is in dealing with temporary glitches.

@jaredwhite I'm so glad the normal users have had such a passive experience with all this considering the sheer amount of spam that was actually coming through.

I bet most Fedi admins were having panic attacks because of how much it was and how it was flooding the instances with so much useless crap.

It really does show how those with thousands of users put a lid on the situation as best as they could.
