@rbreich Agreed that “b/c he had a bad debate performance,” is no longer the real concern. It’s the question of whether he can win, & do the job, that’s causing the heartburn. I would expect a learned man as yourself to see beyond the whataboutism. The GOP cult of personality is because THEY embrace fascism. This argument “only Joe can fix it, so he deserves our loyalty,” sounds too similar to their bowing to royalty. But if Joe can show he’s able, I’m sure dems will back him joyously.

@rbreich "because he had a bad debate performance" is a very dishonest framing of the situation. If remains the candidate, the odds of a Trump dictatorship rise dramatically. The has a chance to impress the American People with bold and decisive democratic actions, but I have great faith in their ability to fail to do so.

@rbreich as a very liberal person hoping Biden steps aside (for Harris, who I am not particularly fond of but myself and millions voted for), the reason is to beat Trump emphatically.

Why call Biden to step aside but not Trump? Because I do not believe MAGA can choose country over party. I believe the Democrats can and will.

It’s a single man, vs a deep bench of dedicated public servants. Biden should realize it’s not about him. Do what the country needs, it’s a no brainer.
