@rbreich as a very liberal person hoping Biden steps aside (for Harris, who I am not particularly fond of but myself and millions voted for), the reason is to beat Trump emphatically.

Why call Biden to step aside but not Trump? Because I do not believe MAGA can choose country over party. I believe the Democrats can and will.

It’s a single man, vs a deep bench of dedicated public servants. Biden should realize it’s not about him. Do what the country needs, it’s a no brainer.

@rbreich With respect to this, you know that dumb "I'm a snake" he speaks about in rallies? If he gets elected and becomes dictator, he's going to turn around and say "I'm the snake." And a whole lot of people will still not get it.

There is nothing subtle about this. Nothing hidden. No 5D chess. He wants presidential power TO abuse it. He wants the cloak of "official acts" he's already litigating on that basis.

SCOTUS has ruled that presidents are essentially monarchs who can commit crimes, bribery is legal, federal regulatory agencies have no authority to keep us safe, and homeless people can be punished for being homeless.

Is it any wonder why public approval of this court is so low?

@rbreich I am particularly disappointed by the part where committing a crime by using official powers absolves the crime, rather than further deepening it. This notion in America that the poewrful deserve less oversight than the weak or the poor is so nonsensical. Public servants should be under more scrutiny, not less. Presidents should be concerned that their activity is legal, it seems like its part of the oath, right? I'm just an adult fluent english speaker, so what do I know?
