@jerry God, this brings back horrible memories....
Ever meet a hardcore C programmer? Their hate for C++ or anything other than C is legendary. I thought the Emacs/vi wars were bad, but holy hell.
I lived this while working for a certain fruit-based smartphone pioneer. Let's just say the Java platform I was partially responsible for didn't even get a firing squad, it was nuked from orbit. But the others fought a harsh, losing battle. Such vitrol.
@JohnsNotHere I, and probably many c programmers, wanted to like c++ but I think it was over my head at points, and so I just make fun of it as a defense mechanism
@jerry Oh I get it. I went to Java just because it had such a plethora of built-in libraries that were easier to use/find documentation for. In truth I was just lazy and intimidated with C++ as well.
@jerry@JohnsNotHere I actually liked C++ after I did the transition over from C. that lasted until I saw badly written C++ code that myself and a coworker had to convert from one compiler to another and had to remove all class method implementations that were done using X86 assembly.
