Greater roadrunner on a warm day. Birds don’t sweat so some of them shed heat by gular fluttering, vibrating the skin in the throat area to produce moisture and evaporative cooling. Desert birds lack opportunities to drink water so most or all of their hydration comes from what they eat.

Greater roadrunner runs across green grass, picking up a bug to eat

@Jgbird Apparently my computer relates, and demonstrates how it sheds heat by running its vents at full blast as long as this video is visible

@Jgbird Likewise Koala bears get all their water from things they eat.

"The word 'koala' can be traced back to the Dharug language of the Greater Sydney region. The word 'gula' means 'no water', referring to the observation that koalas don't drink water. This has been anglicised to 'koala'."

@Jgbird
We have loved this bird ever since we saw it on "Tiere vor der Kamera".
These two animal filmmakers are the best and most likeable. Loving, funny animal documentaries without the usual intrusive tunes in the background - absolutely recommendable 👍
