Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters requires the Bible be taught in schools
“The Bible is an indispensable historical and cultural touchstone. Without basic knowledge of it, Oklahoma students are unable to properly contextualize the foundation of our nation which is why OK educational standards provide for its instruction. This is not merely an educational directive but a crucial step in ensuring our students grasp the core values and historical context of our country”

UPDATE: Ryan Walters issued a memo to require OK schools to incorporate the Bible and Ten Commandments in their lessons.
The new memo seems to be a 'knee-jerk reaction' to a OK Supreme Court decision, that blocked an effort to establish the first publicly funded religious charter school in the country with the OK Archdiocese, called St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School.
[Will Baptist kids learn about the Infallibility of the Pope?]
@flexghost Students, this is the Bible. A fictional book written by fictional people to scare their children into behaving nicely. There are many versions, none of which agree with each other, tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual readers. It is also used as a method to extort money from the followers of cult leaders. Anywhere you see this book in use you will find someone with their hand out.

PROPHECY: It will take the current theocratic majority SCOTUS at least one year or more two address the damage done in Louisiana and Oklahoma. #ahem
@flexghost 😂 oh yeah this is a great idea 💡 every child should know about Sodom and Gomorrah and the attempted angel rape and understand that’s why some Christians think being gay is wrong.
@flexghost another counterpoint: the nation was explicitly founded on the basis of non-theism, so he has no valid argument as his religiosity failed to prepare him for civics and history
