My photos of the Hare were interspersed with pics of an #Oystercatcher family nesting on part of Bryn Aber, the former home of airman and (appropriately enough) ornithologist Captain Vivian Hewitt. There were three chicks, and an attentive father bringing food.

Three photos combined. Top - The female Oystercatcher at rest on her nesting platform, on top of a brick buttress. Grasses and other wild plants are growing in the crumbling cement, pieces of very rusty barbed wire can be seen, and three Oystercatcher chicks can be made out. Bottom left - The head of the female Oystercatcher (black, with a red eye and long orange beak) can be seen, and next to her is one of her chicks, who has a short, dark-coloured beak with hints of orange at the base, and a covering of fluff which is mottled above and white below. Bottom right - The male Oystercatcher standing next to the resting female. We can see a little more of him, including his black back and wing, and white underparts.
