This is by far the best news I have read in May:

Throughout the war, the US has provided 39 HIMARS systems to Ukraine. Because of their excellent range, Russia has only managed to destroy 1 system and damage 2. This leaves us with 36 systems.

However, Germany is buying 3 new systems, which brings Ukraine back to 39. But that is not all… The US is delivering an additional 40 new HIMARS systems, meaning Russia will now be under fire from 79 HIMARS systems.

Putin will lose this war.

But they can't be used for targets inside Russia...

wow 79. Hope they are allowed to hit Russia. I mean come on, Iran with the drones and North Korea with the arty and missiles. Why not start shooting at them?

@randahl @taatm Launchers are nice, and needed, but I'm more concerned about the ammunition.

It's interesting and somewhat puzzling how HIMARS has proven to be very difficult for the Russians to take out.

At first, I thought the Ukrainians were employing them at night, using plenty of "decoys" in the form of trucks (that look practically the same in night vision sensors).

But there have been lots of video clips of them being used in broad daylight. Given the expense and limited supply of the ammo, these couldn't have been deception ops.

40 HIMARs del amor manda EEUU a Ucraniaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 🎉🎉🎉

Con los 39 que tienen hicieron tamaño desastre en las filas rusas.

Con 79 va a ser rock'n'roll! :ablobaww1:

@randahl Putin's only hope to win this war is to win it in Washington and to a lesser extent the capitals of the EU.

If his allies in the republican party win then he could yet win.

Good news. The question is when will he lose?
Because Putin with his distorted view of the future has enormous stocks.
And men who have no further value for him. 😢

@PlukkiePanda they pulled out of Afghanistan in 1989 partly because the war had gotten very unpopular. Back then they had much lower casualty rates.

@randahl @PlukkiePanda but also far less combined cultural history. A lot of Russians see Ukraine as historical part of Russia. I don't think a lot of Russians saw Afghanistan as part of Russia and a good reason to die for. Although a lot of Orcs seem to prefer death over living in Russia...

@Walter8100000 from what I am reading, Russians fighting in Ukraine are not motived by history. They are mainly motivated by financial gain.
