On Russian state tv they like to threaten, that if we help Ukraine, they will invade Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania.

The question is: With what army?

Let us compare Russian regiment locations:

Picture 1: Russian forces placed near Ukraine — for two years, all these regiments have not been enough to defeat the Ukrainian democracy.

Picture 2: Russian forces near Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania — only personnel at two Russian air bases.

There is no way, Russia could fight NATO at this point.

Walter8100000 ,

@randahl Its also proof that Russia doesn't fear NATO. The border with NATO is left wide open. There are more immigrants deployed there than soldiers.

In spite of all the evidence in the hush money trial, many say Trump will get away with it.

I disaggree, because the jury deliberation only has three possible outcomes:

  1. All 12 find Trump not guilty (very unlikely)
  2. All 12 find Trump guilty: Possible, and it officially makes Trump a criminal, which will be devastating to his campaign.
  3. The jury cannot reach a verdict: The trial starts over, meaning Trump’s nightmare continues throughout the election year, which is also bad for Trump.

🇺🇦🇧🇪 Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo signed a 10-year bilateral security agreement in Brussels on May 28.

Under the agreement, #Belgium will allocate around $1 billion in military aid for #Ukraine in 2024.

The document also says that Belgium will supply Kyiv with 30 F-16 fighter jets by 2028, with the first planes expected to arrive already this year.

Today the STANDING WITH UKRAINE UNTIL VICTORY declaration was adopted at the NATO Parliament Assembly with the following strong words:

“The assembly URGES the governments and parliaments of the North Atlantic Alliance [to lift] restrictions on the use of weapons provided by NATO Allies to strike legitimate targets in Russia; [and] to redouble efforts to help Ukraine achieve full membership [and] support the establishment of a special tribunal for prosecuting Russia’s crime of aggression.”

Today, Russia’s Armavir radar station in Krasnodar Krai was attacked, likely by Ukrainian drones. This is significant, because Armavir is a UHF radar used to detect airborne attacks against Russia, such as nuclear missile attacks.

I believe, this attack could serve two purposes:

  1. Show that continued war with Ukraine will be extremely costly for Russia and lead to the destruction of key military assets.

  2. Pave the way for undetected ATACMS missile attacks inside Russia.

Walter8100000 ,
@Walter8100000@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl Why ATACMS? Slow flying high payload UA made drones benefit much more form taking out radar stations like this.

There has been numerous bombing operations in Crimea the last couple of weeks, and last night Ukraine hit targets in 10 different locations on the peninsula.

Apart from winning the war of attrition, Ukraine is also removing radars and air defence systems en masse, which opens up the possibility, Ukraine is preparing the final takedown of the Kerch strait bridge.

I will not be surprised, if the bridge is destroyed in June.

A new drone video shared on Telegram shows what Ukraine is capable of, when we provide the proper equipment.

What we see here, is allegedly 4 Russian S-400 batteries in action but immediately found and destroyed by Ukraine with counter battery fire. The returned fire is very likely ATACMS cluster munitions.

Walter8100000 ,
@Walter8100000@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl Are the ATACMS a response to the air defence launching rockets?
I think the S-400 tried to shoot down the incoming ATACMS. The S-400 missiles missed the ATACMS but the Orcs can still report the ATACMS as destroyed 🤣🤣

Partying on the sinking Titanic:

While China is supporting the genocidal dictator Vladimir Putin's attack on Europe, European consumers are supporting China like never before.

In a new poll from Epinion, asking about just one Chinese online store, 24 percent of Danes replied, they have bought products from this store in the past 6 months.

This comes after a Danish consumer organisation has warned about serious product safety issues with this particular store.

@randahl I do buy stuff on Ali that's made in China. But only things I really need. The problem is that I can try and buy it at a local store but that store also buys it from a Chinese manufacturer.

This is by far the best news I have read in May:

Throughout the war, the US has provided 39 HIMARS systems to Ukraine. Because of their excellent range, Russia has only managed to destroy 1 system and damage 2. This leaves us with 36 systems.

However, Germany is buying 3 new systems, which brings Ukraine back to 39. But that is not all… The US is delivering an additional 40 new HIMARS systems, meaning Russia will now be under fire from 79 HIMARS systems.

Putin will lose this war.

Walter8100000 ,
@Walter8100000@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl @PlukkiePanda but also far less combined cultural history. A lot of Russians see Ukraine as historical part of Russia. I don't think a lot of Russians saw Afghanistan as part of Russia and a good reason to die for. Although a lot of Orcs seem to prefer death over living in Russia...

Great news from Denmark: Of the 52,244 newly registered cars in the first quarter of 2024, a total of 21,765 were purely electric vehicles. This means, 42 percent of Danes are now going fully electric when their old car needs to be replaced.

This development is helped along by a hefty car tax system, through which a typical combustion engine family car is 46 percent more expensive in Denmark compared to countries with no environmental car taxes.

Walter8100000 ,

@randahl 42% of the people that can afford a new car buy a full electric. Their relative new used car will replace a bit older car of someone else. And that bit older car will replace another one etc. The oldest car in line will be shipped to Africa and keep polluting the planet with low grade petrol.

@randahl Overhere the sirenes are tested on a monthly base. When replacing the old mechanical sirenes the plan was to start testing the sirenes in a silent way. This was 15 years ago. There was immediately a discussion about that (stupid) plan and we continued with monthly testing like it was done earlier.
Now the sirenes have to be replaced again and there was a discussion whether we should switch over to warning messages on mobile phone. Thanks to Putin we are getting new sirenes.

I have to correct a misunderstanding about donations to Ukraine:

Several Ukrainian media report that Denmark has donated “its entire fleet of F-16 fighter jets”. This is not true.

Denmark is switching to the newer F-35, and so far, 24 F-16 aircraft have been sold to Argentina, while 19 have been donated to Ukraine.

And before anyone asks, why Denmark did not just donate all of them, please note that 4604 F-16s were built, so the right question is, why only a few countries are donating F-16s.

Walter8100000 ,
@Walter8100000@mastodon.social avatar

@randahl the first of those 4600 planes flew in 1974 and are certified for 8000 hours of flight. That's approximately 1 hour a day for a period of 20 years.

Today is April 9, where Danish forces saw Hitler’s troops crossing the border in 1940.

The total nazi army had 6 million soldiers. The entire population of Denmark was 3.8 million. On the battlefield, Denmark was outnumbered by a factor of 2:1.

After just two hours, we surrendered, and for many years, the Brits mocked us, calling this “to fight like a Dane”.

Today, my fellow Danes are the 2nd most supportive of Ukraine, per capita supporting Ukraine 6 times more than the UK.

Truly disheartening news from Slovakia:

Even though the pro-western, pro-Ukraine presidential candidate Korcok won the first round of the presidential election, yesterday Putin's guy Pellegrini won the final.

This means the anti-Ukraine prime minister Fico is now completing his power grab with an anti-Ukraine president at his side.

With Hungary controlled by Viktor Orbán, the EU now has two Kremlin allied countries among us.

They are celebrating in Moscow.
