@dillyd Is that a wild rose vine that has taken over their tree? We see wild pink ones and white ones taking over the roadside and trees where I live. Mean thorns!
@epicdemiologist@dillyd@photovotary Agreed. That looks just like our Banksia. They tore down our old fence, so we put a trellis between them and the fence when we rebuilt.
@dillyd One of the more mind-blowing facts about roses is that their biological family includes a huge number of fruits, including fruit trees, such as apples, pears, quinces, apricots, plums, cherries, peaches, raspberries, blackberries, loquats, strawberries, rose hips, hawthorns, and almonds.
@dillyd That explains how the castle of sleeping beauty was taken over by roses and thorns 😊
I’m really loving all your photos of the area where I used to live. The plant life is one of the things I miss most.
@dillyd I’m back in New England - western Massachusetts.
My lease is up soon and I’m deciding if I will stay here or explore someplace else. I would consider the PNW again if it wasn’t for the summer wildfires and smoke.
