I actually really like Lethal Weapon 4.

It has some genuinely great action scenes and comedic moments like the shootout with the armored guy and the scene on the boat:

If you cut out the Asian family, most of the romantic + pregnancy stuff and maybe reduce some Chris Tucker (I like him, but I can see, how some people find him annoying), you get an A+ action flick.

It's still not Lethal Weapon 2 - but you've got to have your plateau somewhere.

Global Cume Bound

What is a Cume? Cumulative? Why not say a real word, like Total?

HubertManne , in Gary Sinise On Impact Of Playing Lt. Dan As ‘Forrest Gump’ Turns 30

anyone else feel like these things make it sound like its important to the actor or whoever about the topic rather than them being somewhere and just asked a question so tyring to answer given the framing. ie the questions are tell us about the benefits, importance, impact, etc of whatever. Its like have they actually thought it was impactful or beneficial to begin with.

Pronell ,

In many cases, yes. Puff pieces are usually just that.

But I already know enough about Gary Sinese as an actor to answer this, and the truth is that Forrest Gump and playing Lieutenant Dan, changed his life, not just his career.

He's become an activist, working for veterans rights groups, performing at USO shows, etc. The disabled veteran community embraced him for highlighting their plight, and in return he has never stopped working for them.

bobotron ,

Dang you are right, that article says he's raised 400 million to date, that's no chump change. TIL

Its taken a while and there have been a few films that have taken a while to trickle down to the UK and then only been on for a few days (The Arcadian, I missed it) or never even appear at all (Dream Scenario).

It's missing probably the worst sequel ever, Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace. Holy god was that movie awful. Maybe the list didn't include it because it did so poorly that not enough people were disappointed.

I'm just glad Highlander 2 was near the top.

autotldr Bot , in Marvel’s "Deadpool & Wolverine" Tracking for Record $160M-$165M Debut

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Shawn Levy directed Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Reynolds as the fun-loving, foul-mouthed antihero Deadpool/Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as the introverted, intense Wolverine/Logan.

The first Deadpool made history when opening to $133.7 million domestically in February 2016, the biggest start ever for an R-rated title — a record it still holds — and proving that a superhero pic could draw big crowds despite the restrictive rating.

Disney CEO chief Bob Iger indicated from the get-go when the merger closed that the franchise wasn’t in danger of losing its R-rated status.

Levy and Reynolds, who co-wrote the script with veteran Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, along with writer Zeb Wells, also faced the challenge of having to shut down production during last year’s labor strikes.

Production resumed in November when the SAG-AFTRA walkout was settled, and they were able to meet their summer release date.

Deadpool & Wolverine looks to be the balm they needed, as well as the second major box office win for Disney’s film empire after Inside Out 2, which has cleared the $1 billion mark after opening to $154 million domestically, the biggest start of the year to date.

I find these articles strange. Aren't these people just professional at guessing how much a film will make?

I'm not surprised to see SW9 at the top of the list. I think the biggest problem with the third trilogy is that seemingly, no one planned a story from the start.

It's like that game you played in school where you would write a paragraph or sentence, leave a few words exposed, food the paper over and pass it onto the next person to continue the story.

nightwatch_admin , in The 50 Most Disappointing Movie Sequels of All Time

Ghostbusters 2 is sorely missing from this list. Although there may be one good reason: it’s self aware about its quality and tells you this in the form of the saddest kids’ party ever. Yes kids, my take is that someone smuggled a metaphorical warning into the script: run while you still can, because it is going to be much worse.

I don't know if it's true but I've heard the story that Bill Murray also dislikes the second film because the script they filmed was apparently very different to the one that got him to sign on to the sequel.

Stereotype_Be , in Highlander reboot, starring Henry Cavill in the lead role, the movie is set to start filming in early 2025.

This is one of those movies I’m not holding my breath for. They’ve talked about rebooting/remaking it for so long. On the bright side, I hope this motivates Brian May to finally finish the Highlander soundtrack he was working on in the 2000s.

Also I hope they keep the Queen songs by Queen.

Phantasm 2, while the first installment left so many questions unanswered, number two tried to flip the switch and add more confusion into the mix. I really loved the uneasy uncertain vibe of all the movies but man that story hits kinda sore. But Ghoulies 2 is the opposite story of redemption.

Stereotype_Be , in Yesterday when I went to see Inside Out 2, one of the trailers was for a "Mufasa" movie, in the style of the last live action remake. What the heck.

I tried watching the remake of The Lion King a few years ago. I didn’t make it through the first song. I wish Disney would try something new instead of reboots, remakes, sequels, prequels, and spinoffs.

Naturally, the look hasn’t met some fans’ expectations, and they’re flocking to social media to invite others to drink an ice-cold glass of piss-flavored Haterade.

I don't really see the problem, that might be his every day clothes and he gains a green suit when going full Green Lantern. Given how accurate the other costumes are, I can't see Gunn dropping the ball with Gardener. It is odd that his hair doesn't look ginger. Something that can be fixed in post but I can't see why you'd need to when there's hair dye and wigs.
