Wacko (1982}

Comedy slasher horror parody. It was one of the few horror films I was allows to record and watch on VHS and it has a special place in my heart but I haven't watched it recently as I fear it will disappoint but it's time and I wonder what everyone else would think of it in this post-Scream era.

Definitely looks cheaper than previous hellboys. But that's not a bad thing it may be decent. And Hellboy looks better than Harbours version.

I'm definitely in for this - always up for Donald Glover and that trailer looks fantastic.

I like it! It seems to have the dialog tone pretty damn close to the comics (not surprising considering who wrote this), and the "low stakes" vibe is something that's woefully absent in most comic movies. Plus it's a period piece. I'm down.

The Andromeda Strain (1971)

Based on the novel by Jurasic Park's and Westworld's author Michael Crichton. Scientists were called to inspect and contain a deadly virus of an unknown origin. Movie is very slow (130 mins) and it goes out of it's way to show how characters stick to the code of entering the facility and working in labs. Somewhere in here, behind sealed doors, elevators and a system of self-destruction in case there's a risk it gets away, there's a sence of dread and stress that shows in the team in spite of their strict procedures and proffesionalism when their fate is decided by their analyzis and the blinking of these cold war-era computers carrying the results.

I enjoyed it all a couple of times. It's slow but it also feel very tight. Sure, many folks would have a better time watching it on 2x speed nowadays, although it may hurt the suspense of the movie.

An M. Night Shyamalan Experience!

That said, this doesn't look so bad and I'll give it a go.

"Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" (2023). Included in Amazon Prime, available to rent almost anywhere.

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.

This movie sadly bombed at the box office, but is in my opinion a near-perfect fantasy adventure flick that strikes a really good balance of narrative and comedy, and respects the source material without making it a prerequisite for enjoyment. I'd put it up there with "The Princess Bride" and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a similar cult appreciation in the future.

I'm happy to see a positive response here, makes a change from those who like to write off a film based on two minutes of footage.

One article claims this looks like it will go straight to streaming!

I'll be really surprised and disappointed if it doesn't get a cinema release.

But either way it’s good news for movie theaters in a summer season that’s finally heating up but still running far behind last year (down 19%) and pre-pandemic norms (down 36% from 2019).

And with Deadpool and Wolverine inbound the momentum should be maintained.

Perhaps it's no surprise that the summer has got off to a slow start as the writer's strike pushed the schedules back.

Pringles , in Highlander reboot, starring Henry Cavill in the lead role, the movie is set to start filming in early 2025.

I don't mind because I hate Christopher Lambert with a passion. He is one of the worst actors I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. The guy butchered every role he had. The original Highlander is probably the only movie that is somewhat, kind of, watchable. But man, I hate this guy. He sucked ass as Raiden in MK, as Beowulf, as Highlander, as whatever else he even thought of acting.

Hugin ,

I agree he is terrible. But he was kind of the perfect mess for highlander.

I love that movie but it was an amazing accident. I watched the commentary track and so many of the good scenes were last minute replacements for stupid ideas that they weren't able to pull off.

I think if they had made the movie they intended it would have been just as good as highlander 2.

The amazing Queen soundtrack helps as well.

sunbytes ,

The first time I watched highlander (I hadn't heard anything about the movie beforehand) I thought the actor must be Swedish, as his accent was so strange. Took me until the end of the movie he was just trying to be Scottish...

Please make sure it’s more than a year old so that it will (hopefully) be available somewhere.

Yes. We should definitely try to make it accessible without needing to pirate it. Speaking of, check out FMHY if you want to know what sites to avoid so you don’t accidentally pirate anything.

Mixed feelings tbh. I like the smaller scope and eldritchness, but I honestly kinda loved the campness of del Toro and Perlman's contributions.

This sentence runs-on harder than Conner MacLeod despite being comma-spliced deeper than Arman Fazeel in a parking garage.
