When this happens, Firefox has been updated in the background & the non-updated parts that're loaded into memory attempted to load one of the updated parts & found that they were no longer compatible, causing this message to appear.
At this point you HAVE to restart Firefox in order to be able to use it, no way around it. Soooo very fun on Mac & Linux since both can update in the background. It's also possible to have this happen on Windows, but it's far more rare as it seems to require having multiple different instances running at once.
I was going to also post the direct AMA link, but the OP is a nice concise summary of many of the key discussions, provided without having to go to that site. I'd recommend reading that instead and follow links as you see fit.
Best option though. Chromium browsers are all subject to google's wrath, and there are plenty of Firefox forks to go around. If you don't like vanilla Firefox, try Abrowser, available on Trisquel GNU/Linux, a fully libre GNU/Linux Distribution as well as from the Arch GNU/Linux User Repository.
Still the best browser to support, still the best hope of defending open web standards from Google. Call me when they implement the ads in an onerous way.
Fucking finally. So many reactionary nerds here. Yes, it may turn to shit. It may not. The result is unknown. What I do know is Firefox has been my browser of choice for two whole decades. Chromium actively is killing adblockers. Firefox right now is not.
If something happens I'll make a switch. Right now, nothing has.
The web dying (i mean web browsers, html, javascript, etc) wouldn't be such a bad thing imo.
Look at what's happened to nearly every static content site in the past few years, they've become nearly unusable.
News companies can try to convince ppl to use their apps, but everyone else will continue to use social media apps to get most of their news like they already do anyway. Ppl wanting static content can use the minimal protocols like gemini, gopher, or even a simple markdown web browser, which are already better than most news sites.

We’re looking at how we can use local, on-device AI models -- i.e., more private -- to enhance your browsing experience further. One feature we’re starting with next quarter is AI-generated alt-text for images inserted into PDFs, which makes it more accessible to visually impaired users and people with learning disabilities. The alt text is then processed on your device and saved locally instead of cloud services, ensuring that enhancements like these are done with your privacy in mind.
Love the passive-aggressiveness and completely agree with it. Android and ChromeOS are Linux. They should report as such. Let's see those stats change.
I don't see the value in using an extension just to automatically watch YouTube in HD. Maybe 10 years ago, but now we got Newpipe.
Also Google Search has gone downhill for quite some time now. Why should I install an extension that reverts the enshittification Google has deliberately created?
DDG, Qwant, searXNG maybe even Brave or Kagi are better options. If you like Google Search so much, at least use Startpage.
It was until a recent Chrome update for Android that they took out the ability to turn the webpages dark within the hidden settings, and that was what motivated me to go back to Firefox (first time user on Android though).
I haven't looked back, and am actually not sure if they brought the feature back, nor that I care nowadays ;).
Has anyone else found the firefox app on android buggy? Always crashes when switching to full screen when watching a video but will work when opening it again immediately. Gets into the wrong state with private vs non private tabs etc.
