Hello!...

I left reddit on june 12th last year in protest of spez's decision to change the reddit api from being free as in free beer to an unbelievably expensive cost. That same day, I joined lemmy on a now abandoned account....

Constantly users from lemmy.world and lemm.ee are downvoting posts in languages other than english....

Seeing more "cake days" pop up lately, it seems we're approaching (or in) the 1 yr anniversary of the Reddit migration....

A little comparison...

I'm happy to announce that the a.gup.pe Mastodon groups now federate into Lemmy. Previously they were just empty communities, but now they're being filled with content. Fantastic news....

In Germany there's an app called "Jodel", which is essentially like a localized reddit/lemmy. That means, you only see posts from people near you (the default is something like 10km, I think)....

To those who have used both which do you prefer overall?...

Sometimes I click on instances to check them out, but feddit.de has consistently been returning a 500 error however there are people posting from there. What kind of magic is this? Have the Germans figured out how to have a private instance that's somehow still connected to the fediverse?...
