And thinking that inclusion is about offence, and refusing to not be a shit to people either way, makes you at the very least, a wilfully ignorant ass..

I love being in Morrowind and being called names because I'm a giant walking lizard where cat folk and lizard folks used to be slaves. Lean into that shit Bethesda. Gimme dat race war.
Except the problem is that Bethesda writes really flat, unconvincing racists. In fact, I'd go as far as to argue weakly portrayed racists in media like Bethesda's are part of why racists are always like "I'm not racist!" because they're comparing themselves to absurdly over the top tropes of badly written racism.
They do now for sure. Morrowind at least was a lot harsher. It wasn't just racists. There were groups who still practiced race-based chattel slavery. Now they are mostly too scared to even mention it as a possibility.
(Although I would argue Starfield is pretty racist in it's creation. A large portion of black characters have African accents. This is long after colonization, and theoretically there would have been lots of race/nationality mixing after leaving earth. Sure, some places may retain or even strengthen their accents, but it probably wouldn't be race based anymore, or at least not the same as in modern day earth. It's so uncreative and uninteresting, and seemingly racist in its portrayal. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who noticed this, but it aggravated me.)
I'm funniest when I'm alone in my car, after work, thinking about what happened and all of the really funny things I should've said. They're really good.

I do remember a recent thing where a woman skater went full-ass TERF after having placed lower than a trans woman in a competition and making the right wing noise cycle, conveniently leaving out that they placed something like fifth and sixth behind a child. Google is being extremely unhelpful right now in finding it, though, instead showing me article after article about a separate story where a trans woman won a skating competition, which frame it in the most horrible way possible by making repeated reference to the fact that a 13 year old got second place. Lots of mentions of her "beating a 13 year old" and not being apologetic about it.
Most of the trans women I've run into are bi/pansexual or lesbian. Of course, I'm also a bisexual trans woman and have met most of them through dating apps, so I definitely have some pretty heavy selection bias, and my anecdotal data means nothing.
Palworld is $30 on steam. It’s a litttle expensive for an indie game but I’ve gotten my money’s worth already. It’s not perfect but I wasn’t expecting a AAA title. Honestly I’m just impressed multiplayer works as well as it does. I also appreciate that they didn’t shoehorn any awful cutscenes in. No story > bad story. It also runs pretty great, even though my computer is older and I’m using proton/linux.
Compare Pokémon scarlet, $70. Laggy. Unpolished. Missing features from previous games. Unskippable cutscenes with characters just standing around talking to each other. Boring basic story. Nothing to do at the end of the game (no battle tower). No new fun features (the open world feels empty and ugly, compare BotW/TotK). It’s too open, there is no Mt Moon to get lost in.
Even if the team makes no further improvements I’m still having fun with palworld. I don’t see myself ever replaying scarlet.
Right, and is OP saying buying another Pokemon game will make gamefreak actually put effort in? Like why would it work the 10th time when it failed the first 9 times.
Gamefreak doesn't put effort in because they don't have to. Fans will continue to buy them regardless of quality.
I'm playing stuff I actually enjoy like Cassette Beasts. I'm hyped for the upcoming Beastieball too. I tried TemTem but it felt too much "Mobile" for me for a lack of better terms.
I'm pointing out that it's funny to me that fans of Palworld got angry at the very thing Pokémon fans got angry at Gamefreak for (Namely, spreading their team thin on Little Town Hero)
I don't think my buying habbits are going to communicate anything to a company. I buy what looks fun to play. "Real" pokemon games look like a worse and worse buy, and that's just how it is. I don't expect them to change their development cycle at all.
At best, I hope Palworld's (and cassette beast's) success attracts better companies to make their own version. If this lights a fire under gamefreak's butt I will be extremely (and happily) surprised.
I'm an American who is reasonably well traveled (though I haven't been to Europe yet) and really wants to be less ignorant about these things than most of my countrymates so I spent a amount of time trying to figure it out before looking at a map and reading the comments. I did not. I guess I'm still that American. But I'll keep trying not to be.
