I'm a hacker living in California. I take photos of arthropods, do various computer projects, and do lots of repairs on things around my house. I also like to bike and trail run :)

20+ years of open source, systems administration, software engineering, distributed systems, and infosec. You may have used software I've built -- Logstash, fpm, grok, pleaserun, xdotool.

Ever get so into your task that you just collapse where you are and fall asleep? Bees… sometimes. This bumblebee is gonna overnight on this scabiosa. (Bombus vandykei?)

A fuzzy, yellow and black striped bumblebee holds motionless to a pink scabiosa flower. A voiceover whispers, “shhh they’re sleeping”

Found a house wren doing an insect(?) delivery to what looks like another adult? The in-hole bird looks older than a nestling. Do the males of this species bring females snacks during nesting? Is it nesting material?

A wren pokes its head out of a tree hole with a beak holding some food? or nesting material?

After some reading, I’m guessing it’s an almost-fledgling being fed by a parent. The other nestling/fledglings here like robins and house finches look a bit more of a mess-of-a-bird so my calibration is off 😂
