It’s not that expensive to have your own labels made to replace those in your clothes so you have your own secret bespoke brand.

Could we design a skyscraper & sewer system with the intent of creating ecological niches all through the building? Some of the work with green roofs touches on this... can your building handle rain like a forest, not produce fast run-off? Maybe even act as a water sink for less well designed nearby areas. You collect the runoff and get all the moss and plants your parking garage neighbor can't be bothered with.

Don't be mad about the bugs in the walls, design walls that attract the best bugs.

When you read about cults, from Jonestown, to The Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God, to FLDS... and others-- the thing that strikes me most is how similar these movements always are. Always overworking people to keep them in a mental fog. "Give up your possessions" rules don't apply to cult leaders, rules forbidding sex even for married couples, but also sexual abuse. The leader "has to" take a bunch of wives... on and on.

Same old rotten story.

We set up a intranet web server for the CS club and it has student sysadmins and they are having so much fun making accounts, and messing with all the settings. I insisted in the server being a literal computer sitting in the corner of a room because I think it helps them to understand how networks work in a more concrete way.

So much of their experience blends internet, virtual machines, etc in ways that might make it harder to imagine making a network from scratch.

Who decided that the blueprint for vegan cook was going to be 'unbearable white male hipster'?

I'm sorry, but unnecessary beanies make me furious. YOU'RE INSIDE. TAKE OFF YOUR HAT.

You don't see me coming into your house in a ski-suit.

Young fellow. He's got the works. Sleeve tats. He's got a big gold chain. He's got a tweed waistcoat over a white tshirt. He's got an ironic moustache. And of course the ubiquitous orange beanie hat, worn way too high up over a shaved head. Probably concealing some terribly ironic hairstyle. He's in a kitchen. Talking about vegan food, probably using slang words. God I hate young people.

    @TheBreadmonkey I'm still bitter that we are calling them "beanies" now. It's a winter hat, or merely a hat. I'm also sometimes using but always skeptical of "puffer jackets" or the icky-feeling singular "puffer". Last thing, where did the windbreakers go????
