I have a doctorate in clinical psychology, specializing in the social and emotional impacts of living with chronic medical illnesses, mostly digestive stuff. I'm more than happy to talk about poop. Former associate professor, "retire" in April 2023 after a long and futile battle with the administration for a salary adjustment and other things. Now I work for a non-profit research institute and run my private practice.

I'm really a summer person at heart, but in the spirit of preventative medicine, I'm going to be as optimistic as I can in the face of the seasonal changes that are happening.

My first step is putting together my Winter Starter Pack, which includes good horror stories, stretchy comfortable house clothes that are nearly as comfy as not wearing pants, and of course my favourite soups.

We'll see how long I last before slipping back into my old ways (my old ways = muttering "Fuck this winter bullshit" and giving my neighbours the finger for no reason until spring has sprung).

Me, wearing old comfy black leggings that are cut off below the knee for comfort reasons, and my comfy pink house socks for winter

@flexghost @Gothilla @Bam FWIW, I got the remainder of my loans for my doctorate in clinical psych forgiven under Biden's expanded PSLF. Around $40,000 after 10 years of monthly payments on my part while working in academia at a qualifying university. The program does work so don't give up on the arduous paperwork!

    @RolloTreadway Oof, I know how this feels. It was a long time ago but I had to watch the company I worked for at the time implement an utter piece of garbage system. I knew it would fail, and it did, but I was in no position to say that so I tried to be subtle and was ignored. Good luck today. Maybe put on your candid observer hat and detach yourself from the madness
