It’s specifically the US that calls main courses entrees. No clue why.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Red chile sauce with poached eggs for me, then later a bottle of Vinho Verde. Pretty decent so far.

@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

The guy under indictments for a multitude of corrupt acts is still going on about “the swamp”?

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

That was their quick response, of course. Washington DC is “the swamp” which I guess is why Swamp Baboon is so eager to go back there.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Phew, sure is reassuring that our confirmation of this is that you imagine it.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Seems kind of extreme to suggest such a drastic scenario. The possibilities are more numerous than either he’s 100% fine or dead (which, btw, you are the one “putting that into the universe). I wouldn't guess that’s what people were thinking… rather that perhaps he was in ill health, had lost interest or had other projects that were taking priority, perhaps due to practical financial considerations. Thankfully Ernest has posted an update answering this question, and he says while he has been hindered by some health circumstances recently, things are basically on track.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

They had their loser reasons for backing him then and they still stand. Trump is popular enough with their deranged constituents to carry the state in any election, and that's what matters to them.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

When was the last time people were in doubt about that? Conservatives have been trying to pass laws that affect everyone based on their confused religious moralism for decades. Things like “blue laws” (banning sales of alcohol on Sunday) are connected to Christians trying to impose their religious ideas on people. Or the idea that someone’s testimony or oath can’t be believed if not sworn on a bible.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Wow, those 3 other people are horrible. "Permissiveness"?

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Your belief is that the Houthis are doing this to stop pollution? I thought it was supposed to be on behalf of Palestinians.

Trump says his criminal indictments boosted his appeal to Black voters ( apnews.com )

Former President Donald Trump claimed Friday that his four criminal indictments have boosted his support among Black Americans because they see him as a victim of discrimination, comparing his legal jeopardy to the historic legacy of anti-Black prejudice in the U.S. legal system....

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Even better, he continued AFTER they were exonerated, got a settlement, and someone else confessed and was convicted based on DNA evidence. If there’s one thing this chump can’t do, it’s ever admit he was wrong. Oh, and another, he can’t just stfu about something.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

My understanding is they could play all the videos of Trump saying bullshit they want, just not assert it themselves. They could repeat it but be careful to say “Person x alleges this” rather than stating mistruths as fact.

Cavuto went on to shoot down his claim that gas prices are at $6 a gallon, sourcing the real price as being an average of $3.26 a gallon.

Good. I’m so sick of the wild bullshit like that this baboon makes up. Gas is around 2.80 where I live which seems quite cheap given that it was that price 20 years ago and everything else has gone up so much. Then, of course, there’s the fact a lot of people are super-confused about that presidents don’t set the price of gas.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Someone cited recently how much we were paying a year just for air conditioning in Afghanistan: $20 billion. Meanwhile we’re like “hey, maybe children shouldn’t be starving in school and forced to throw their lunch in the trash at the end of the line if they can’t pay for it, maybe states shouldn’t be sending parents to collections for a $90 kid’s lunch bill” and conservatives: WHO’S GONNA PAY FOR THAT??

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Colorado did the same thing. As of last time I dealt with it, you can grow six plants... which could put out like 12 pounds (5.5 kg) if you're good at it, but you can't travel with that because you were only supposed to have one ounce (28g) in your possession. Drive somewhere with 1/2 a lb? Same bullshit as always, second degree felony. The cops managed to to keep it illegal after legalization.

Splitting the Dem vote with third parties is a good way to get Trump elected. So it’s a sideways way of voting for extreme fascism.

Do you often hear the ringing of switching power supplies and devices when you are in a quiet space?

I'm curious, how many people are aware of these sounds. I have designed, etched, and built my own switching power supplies along with winding my own transformers. I am aware of the source of the noise. So, does anyone else hear these high frequency sounds regularly?

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Yes, I can hear them. Usually it’s not a problem but I have had 1-2 power adapters that annoyed me.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

It's always amazing where some Republicans draw the line. Overt racism? Bizarre incoherence? Trying to overturn an election with a riot? Spousal assault previously documented in court? Paying off prostitutes with campaign money? Trying to use federal foreign aid money to start a fake smear campaign on an opponent? Calling up state election officials and pressuring them to create a bullshit election investigation? Politicizing public health because you're vain about your weird makeup? Mocking disabled people? Having Russian officials over to the White House and destroying the translator's notes? Saying things about women like "bleeding out of her whatever"? Demonstrating a pattern of fraudulent accounting for decades? No problem. But this ONE thing, that's too much.

China isn't desperate enough to invade half of Europe and threaten to nuke everyone, though.

The confusion in his eyes that says it all... Mike's lost control again...

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Splendid! According to his own beliefs he'll be tortured by satan for an infinite amount of time.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

It's really such an insane theory though. You get .01 through 100 years on earth, and if you screw up your one shot, you're rewarded or punished for eternity? Just nuts. I have no idea why people would feel normal telling themselves and each other this.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

It’s named after the elder George Bush, GHWB.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Yeah. Only for one year though. I had previously thought his CIA involvement was more extensive.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

I went through a chocolate period and that was fun. At this point, uh, buying liquor. Not even the expensive stuff now though.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Alcoholism isn’t required for drinking liquor. It’s optional.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

His newer lawyers have apparently been asking for payment up front.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

I skip to the last chapter, and if I don't understand it, keep skipping back until I do. Or just put it down for a couple of weeks.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Common fascist tactic, of course. The notion is that they’re being suppressed by an enemy who is unworthy.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

I’m we can’t get that, could we at least get some photos of him without the stupid orange crap on his face? It’s so ridiculous that manly men, salt of the earth, toxic masculinity people who wouldn’t be caught dead with makeup on worship this guy who wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without smearing his face in bronzer.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

I suppose I’m still haunted by that one photo of him, I think on some golf day, where he looked like a demented elf. It was going around for a while but I had a hard time finding it last time I looked.

Natural gas is commonly produced by fracking. And also, this is about export terminals.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

He has a good point. Specifying precisely what the program does is the actual difficult part and won't be done properly by this current LLM system since it's creating something new and requires actual thought and understanding.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

He defines “best” differently than we do. As far as I can tell it means “most willing to do the corrupt shit I tell them to”

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Well sure. They want to campaign on it. It’s not as if they really want to end the availability of undocumented labor, too… definitely don’t want that. I mean, which industries depend on the 8-10 million people working in the US illegally? Their goal is to campaign on it, and keep immigrants marginalized so their buddies can keep screwing legal workers and taking advantage of undocumented ones.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

I doubt that Bush Sr would be bothered by that as much as I doubt that GWB ever planned more than a barbecue in his entire life.

“I really do believe in IQ science”: Laura Loomer, Trump ally floated for a potential White House position, goes on wildly racist rant against Rep. Ilhan Omar ( www.mediamatters.org )

Only months after Donald Trump Jr. floated Laura Loomer as a White House press secretary, Loomer used her platform on Rumble to launch into a half-hour long racist screed against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Somalians living in America, birthright citizenship, and Muslims. Loomer begun the show by referring to Rep. Omar as a "black...

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Hell yeah. I’ve been to some great shows at Triple Rock and then we’d go eat at the falafel place up the street.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Oh, that’s just for non-wealthy white people. The “low iq” people will get forcible sterilization.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Yeah, but their racism one other bigotry plays a role, especially with the wannabe Nazis at hand. Forcible sterilization has been done before.

Used as a means of controlling “undesirable” populations – immigrants, people of color, poor people, unmarried mothers, the disabled, the mentally ill – federally-funded sterilization programs took place in 32 states throughout the 20th century.

https://www.pbs.org/independentlens/blog/unwanted-sterilization-and-eugenics-programs-in-the-united-states/

Recently, too

https://bpr.berkeley.edu/2020/11/04/americas-forgotten-history-of-forced-sterilization/

In early September [2020], a nurse working at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in Georgia came forward […] claiming that numerous involuntary hysterectomies (uterus removal surgeries) were performed on detained immigrant women.

Throughout the 20th century, nearly 70,0000 people (overwhelmingly working-class women of color) were sterilized in over 30 states. Black women, Latina women, and Native American women were specifically targeted. From the 1930s to the 1970s, nearly one-third of the women in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, were coerced into sterilization when government officials claimed that Puerto Rico’s economy would benefit from a reduced population.

@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

No doubt, the people who would absolutely love it would outnumber the ones with any level of concern.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

I got stopped by plainclothes cops one time and I wasn’t even sure if they were really cops, and one guy said “yeah, here’s my badge and this is my gun” and showed me. I was just oh, okay, but it came up in court, and the issue was it could be seen as intimidating (the cop lied and said it didn’t happen!).

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

So he said “I’m here to protect the right to do exactly what you’re protesting against”? That’s the point. I don’t think I would have been intimidated but I would have thought he’s a cunt.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

He had the RNC paying them for a while. Supposedly what he’s doing now is okay because his website says that’s where the money is going.

State Republican organizations have recently been having financial problems in part because people donate directly to Trump vs them.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

It’s a lot like how Elron Musk theoretically is worth billions, but still feels the need to run funny schemes on doge coin. He can’t sell substantial amounts and get cash without reducing the Tesla share price and thus his overall net worth even more than what he took out.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

If engeron fines him 300-400 million he’s fucked.

Still, that night will see many beaten prostitutes, 500 Truth Social posts in all caps and ketchup everywhere.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Elton still does feel the need to do shit like pump Dogecoin though. Maybe it’s just for the thrill of scamming people.
