The FTC has confirmed what we suspected: During the pandemic supply chain disruptions, big grocery chains pressured food suppliers to favor them over smaller competitors and hiked food prices to rake in record profits.

Those prices have stayed high even as disruptions eased.

Once you decide to be a defender of democracy instead of a scared rabbit this one is simple:

NBC should just call their bluff, and say OK, if we don't get full access we won't cover your convention at all.

@mastodonmigration I remember when Trump's administration first started delivering those sham press conferences and I thought to myself, "this is a great opportunity for American journalists to exercise a simple & dramatic ethical boundary in order to make the point that Trump was corrupt on all counts and in all areas" & then they just normalized it, entertainmentized it, and here we are

there are no moral standards anymore as we near full collapse. we can't expect the system to correct itself

@wdlindsy the biggest story is that someone who committed treason, witness harassment during testimony, and threatened and then carried thru on a coup attempt is still allowed to run for the same office he held when he committed all of those crimes.

@wdlindsy abortion is one aspect. states need to be planning out what they're going to do if Trump is elected and the federal govt collapses. I hope they have a plan.

@GottaLaff so, Biden can’t step aside because the DNC is too empty and unprepared to deal with any issue that doesn’t begin with “but Trump is fascist”?

That’s literally the argument. It just shows how the center in the US can twist anything into nuances of political strategy that all end with the same conclusion: keep old white men in power and don’t be concerned with actual issues when there’s polling data and status quo power struggles to consider.

@lovelylovely one that BlueWave and MAGA have in common is that they toss around “unAmerican” to defend their inability to discus difficult political subjects on their own terms. Calling someone unAmerican for their political stance is exactly what the fascist MAGA wants to codify.

The Biden admin needs to be challenged on its failures. Period. If they aren’t strong enough for that, then Biden shouldn’t be running.
