There is no way to add a content warning (CW) to someone else's post you want to share. This can make it difficult to share a post if you think it should be behind a CW.

However, a possible workaround is to make a CW-ed reply to the post you want to share, telling people to view the post you're replying to and warning them what it contains. You can then boost this CW-ed reply to your followers.

⚠️ Avoid using flashing images or emoji on posts or profiles, as they can be physically dangerous to people with certain neurological conditions. (It's okay to post animations and videos, they just need to avoid rapid flashing.)

There is an option in Mastodon for people to prevent GIFs autoplaying, but not everyone is on Mastodon. A lot of people may be seeing your post through a shared web link.

If you're an ordinary Mastodon user, the "block domain" option does not block servers, it just mutes them. It hides their posts from you, but does not hide your posts from them.

Only server admins can do actual blocks through defederation, preferably on a server that has activated "authorized fetch".

For example, if you want to avoid threads.net, you need to join a server that has defederated threads.net. (You can find nice servers that block threads.net at https://fedi.garden)

Maple flowers. I've seen everybody else's photos a few weeks ago and I feel like a late bloomer up here in the north. Like back in elementary school when I always wore last year's fashions.

Several clumps of red maple flowers, further along in maturity. They have big bundles of straw-colored pistils and stamens protruding like blond hair

There's a strong tradition on here that you should add alt text descriptions to any images, videos or audio files you attach to a post. These descriptions are important because they make attachments accessible to blind and/or deaf people

However, some people can't write alt texts due to their own disabilities. If that's the case, they can include the tag #Alt4Me in their post to request help. Others who want to help can reply with an alt text description and the tag #Alt4You.

"Original pages" are the most up-to-date and complete versions of profiles and posts on the Fediverse. They are also useful for many other purposes such as sharing posts, browsing someone's complete follows and follower lists, interacting with posts that don't show up in searches, checking if blank profiles are really blank etc.
