SERIOUS mistake by not to provide real-time fact-checking during the . They are letting the convicted felon LIE constantly, without ANY pushback, and then expecting to defend against it. And I don’t want to hear about how Biden looks tired, is misspeaking, etc. The convicted felon is straight up LYING ON NATIONAL TV with wild abandon, with no consequences. FFS.

"In the Gaza Strip there are two cemeteries that contain the remains of British soldiers"
"Both cemeteries have survived since Israel's war on Gaza began"
A displaced Palestinian: "Meanwhile, the graves of Gazans have been bulldozed and their corpses have been stolen. This feels very dehumanising"
"But Israel can’t cause havoc to the British graveyards and will pay so much money in compensation to repair what was barely damaged..."

The second and FINAL opinion today: Snyder v. US. Written by Justice Kavanaugh. The vote is 6-3. Jackson dissents, joined by Sotomayor and Kagan.

Geidner:

The final SCOTUS decision today is Snyder v. US. Kavanaugh has the court's 6-3 decision on ideological grounds, holding that the Section 666 bribery statute does not apply to "gratuities" given for public officials' past acts. Jackson writes the liberals' dissent.

When I consider the billions that will be spent on presidential campaigns against the tens of thousands of votes that will ultimately decide it, the project seems absurd. Naively? it ought to be easy to simply find those people who would vote for your candidate but did not since they didn’t have a ride to the polls, or child care, or they simply forgot.

Of course were it simple we’d not all be so concerned. 1/

@futurebird Sadly, ads rule this modern world, and teevee more so. I he hadn't been a teevee star for 8 years the rapist nazi traitor could never have won any elected seat anywhere.

Do Republicans have a different set of Ten Commandments than the rest of us have?

Asking for a friend.

Because people like Kevin Roberts, with his claim that Democrats want abortions three days after birth, seem never to have heard of the commandment forbidding false witness. It certainly featured prominently in the Ten Commandments my mama taught me when I was a little boy.

WaPo: “Many voters express resignation, dismay, anger over being asked to choose between Biden and Trump again”

TOO FUCKING BAD.

If you can’t see what an existential threat a Trump presidency would do to America and THE REST OF THE WORLD, I pity you. But I promise, your world will be a LOT different if you don’t vote for Biden and not different in any good, measurable way.

Get over yourself and see beyond your own narrow interests. Voting isn’t marriage. You’re not going to find The One.

phaedral ,
@phaedral@mastodon.social avatar

@GGMcBG @KingShawn How about voting for because President Biden has decades of important and successful public service under his belt, served credibly under Obama, and has done amazing things for the nation as we try to pull away from the horrors of the 2016 Trump term?

Any frame other than "decades of successful public service versus a rapist nazi traitor" is a win for the rapist nazi traitor.

Imma stick my neck out here but this paper of M Friedman

The Methodology of Positive Economics

his argument means there is no useful distinction between say, theories of heliocentrism v geocentrism, germ theory v humors, spontaneous generation v infectious disease vectors.

that germ theory hypothesis is “unrealistic”, so is spontaneous generation and nothing can or should be said of them

somehow this passed academic muster.

phaedral ,
@phaedral@mastodon.social avatar

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @economics-that-works @economics @academicchatter We're talking about the "discipline" that fatuously swallowed "money is utility" (von Neuman and Morgenstern, "Theory of Games and Economic Behavior") as if the authors never heard of Midas.

The entirety of "modern Western economics" is fatally flawed.
