| just got a call from a 304 area code. Thinking it was someone | know in WV, | answered. It was a man claiming to be from customer service (didn't say what company, only "customer service")
The first thing he asked was "Can you hear me?"| remembered something | saw on Facebook saying people are calling and asking if you can hear them, then using the recording of your "Yes" reply as a way to sign you up for all kinds of stuff. So | replied "I hear you" to which he again asked "so you can hear me?"
Me: | hear you
Him: | just need a yes or no
Me: | hear you
Him: hangs up
Thanks to whoever posted that story. | probably would have answered Yes the 1st time he asked.

I've been doing the #Drawing exercise again where you just make some weird outlines on paper and then see what characters are hidden inside them. 1 didn't come out (yet?) but I'm blown away by the triangular shape which begs to be completed as a hat (right hand top), and the complete witch figure (right hand bottom).

Top left to right: somewhat of a shark face, a flowery thing, 5 petals, and a happy face at the bottom, and a triangle which has to become a hat. Bottom left to right: another sharky face, hands in pocket, walking off, 1 that didn't come out, and a witch with a huge hat, she's wrapped in a black shawl.

    This week I finished Nieuwe namen which was really interesting and I'm happy I read stories from elderly Trans people.

    Lots of lichen from yesterday’s hike.

    Some of the same gray lichen, this time on a tree trunk, with other trees and blue sky in the background. This time it’s joined by a green lichen that looks like messy unbrushed wavy hair.
    A lichen-covered twig and brown pine needles on a bed of green moss. There are at least two types of lichens – one with blue-green surfaces that are a bit flat, and one with green-gray hairy structures that grow outward. The moss has clumps of bright green spiky leaves that turn a bit reddish at the tips.
    A green lichen that looks a lot like cedar, growing outward from the surface of a reddish tree trunk. In the background we see a glimpse of blue sky and brown forest floor and bare trees.

    I would like to propose that this be named Mint Chocolate Lichen

    A lower view of the same splotch of lichen, this time with a view extending further across the rock, and we see that there are several more splotches, generally round in shape, and half on top and half going down the sides of this squarish gray rock.
    A closer view of one of the splotches. The lichen is generally mint green but where it forms cups, the insides are brown, so it looks like an elaborate mint chocolate.
    Another close view of the mint chocolate cup shapes going down the side of the rock. They look like failed pottery attempts that have partially collapsed in on themselves.

    How do you write/enjoy accents and dialects in your books?
    Do you just mention that there is a dialect or do you write it out? And which do you prefer a a reader? 🤔

    @NickEast I merely describe accents. Perhaps remind the reader a few times during the story.
    Dialect is fun and I try to add that consistently, as long as it's not too difficult, or gets annoying. I decide that on a reread of the story.
