It's time to talk, fam.

Is this behavior ok at an LGBTQIA+ Pride Event deemed "family friendly?"

Tell me your thoughts...

How much trouble can one wire cause? The IBM 1402 Card Reader/Punch (1959) was a workhorse of the punch-card era, speedily reading 800 cards per minute. But the museum's card reader occasionally crunched cards and jammed, interfering with the demonstrations. 1/8

Oh kryst, minds me of a main console card reader of an IBM370-135 that I was running in 1974 or so that went tits up in the middle of 1st shift spewing smoke annaw. Took the men in black about 20 hours to sort it.

Alex Finley looks at the revelation that the Russians have been paying a wide network of European politicians to spout pro-Russia, anti-Ukraine rhetoric and asks if this can be happening in the US, too. He concludes:

"It is naïve to think the same pattern does not exist in the United States, given the ample evidence of coordinated pro-Russian talking points from several Republican politicians."

Wow! waking up 30 years too late must be quite the revelatory event.

Russians buying US and European pols is not a new thing. The headline in that artical is like asking if water is wet. The 30 years was jut a bit arbitrary.

I was commenting on the rhetorical framing in the headline, not the content of the article that most won't bother to read,
jfc but this is tiresome

OK. This is obvious but it just clicked for me. The reason you accuse the other side of doing what you are really doing is because in the end someone did it and you are hoping some people will forget who.

*someone stole an election
*someone mishandled classified documents
*someone nearly got impeached
*someone abused campaign funds cover up adultery

Last one is harder... but they'll get there.

(You know they are looking for ANYTHING. Maybe Joe has one of those 50s pinups in the garage.)

@futurebird
The first to accuse gets the benefit of the doubt, the second is assumed defensive and hence more likely guilty of the offence.
Psychological leverage in public perception.

Via Dan Rather, a thread: 1/…

If I may, there’s something I need to get off my chest.

As democracy remains under siege, it has been frustrating to watch how the press covers politics these days.

I am reminded by lessons that came to me during the Nixon years as a CBS News corresp:

  1. Enough with Both-sides-ism

When 1 side lies intentionally & repeatedly, they are no longer entitled to benefit of doubt. They should be held to account, right away. Do not simply repeat the narratives they spew

"Trump is almost certain to lose millions, if not billions, unwinding his real estate portfolio to cover the cost of judgments, mounting legal bills, and a presidential campaign….

It's difficult to imagine anyone under such a high level of financial distress gaining access to the levers of power."

In a reasonable an just society Donald John Trump would have been relegated to the gutter and never risen beyond selling fake Rolex watches from the trunk of a K car, but he had a rich Daddy and media value to the entertainment mogul scum that made him "A Star" so, here we are.
Here we are under the thumb of a mass of egits that think pro wrestling is real.
