Can homeless people be fined for sleeping outside? A rural Oregon city asks the US Supreme Court ( apnews.com )

The scenes were emblematic of the crisis gripping the small, Oregon mountain town of Grants Pass, where a fierce fight over park space has become a battleground for a much larger, national debate on homelessness that has reached the U.S. Supreme Court....

"Instead of living off MAGA fumes in a race he is unable to win, Sideshow Bob should just drop out.

There is no path to victory for Bob. None. Zero. Zilch.

Of course, Bob’s not in the race to win. He’s in it to steal votes from Biden in a desperate effort to try and help Trump win the election. His campaign admitted as much earlier this week."

"Rural white voters have long enjoyed outsize power in American politics. They have inflated voting power in the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House and the Electoral College. …

The unfortunate fact is that polls suggest many rural white people’s commitment to the American political system is eroding."

@wdlindsy Those nutjobs do not believe the election was stolen, rather, they all agreed that this was their story and they are sticking to it. What a bunch of morons.

@wdlindsy Rural white voters can be trusted to vote against their own best interests. They clearly are a dumb and stubborn lot. I try to stay away from those people as they cannot interact in my world very well.

Jay Kuo takes a sobering look today about how misinformation gets planted in the public square and then takes root and becomes "truth" in the minds of susceptible people.

Case in point: in 1998, the Lancet published a study by Andrew Wakefield which claimed to show a link between vaccines and autism. Kuo writes,

"The entire study was bogus."

"On March 24, on Washington Week, foreign affairs journalist Anne Applebaum said: 'Trump has decided that he doesn’t want money to go to Ukraine… It's really an extraordinary moment; we have an out-of-power ex-president who is in effect dictating American foreign policy on behalf of a foreign dictator or with the interests of a foreign dictator in mind.'”

Media & Technology Group sued 2 of its co-founders seeking to force them to give up their co & leadership.

Wesley Moss & Andrew Litinsky, both former contestants on The Apprentice, "failed spectacularly" in their leadership of the company & made "reckless & wasteful decisions" that damaged it, lawsuit alleges.

The 2 sued Trump Media earlier this year claiming their stake should be more

I used to hang out with Wes Moss in college. He attended UNC Chapel Hill and we worked together at the Sherwin Williams paint store. Wes is an awesome guy. I've been watching his rise in the Trump circle and am not surprised Trump is trying to shaft him and his partner.

I cannot agree with this statement.

Consider how many genocides have occurred since the 1948 convention and its ratification in 1951. Now consider that three have been legally recognised – and led to trials – under the convention:

Rwanda in 1994, Bosnia (and the 1995 Srebrenica massacre), and Cambodia under the 1975-9 Pol Pot regime.

Israel will have its day to atone for its behavior. They have become what they despise.

Between 1978 and 2022:

-Worker pay grew by 15%

-Top exec pay jumped by 1,209%

Major US CEOs are now paid 344 times more than their typical employees.

When I say corporate CEOs are exploiting labor, this is what I mean.

Billionaires have seen their fortunes surge by $2 trillion+ since the Trump tax cuts.

What's the GOP doing about it? Doubling down. They're trying to permanently extend provisions of the law that disproportionately benefit the rich.

It’s crystal clear who they work for.
