Banning masks has nothing to do with preventing crime. Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, and everyone there wears a mask regularly.

@luckytran yeah but they have a shared sense of social responsibility that’s utterly lacking in the US.

Put simply, the Court allowed Trump to stay on the ballot in order to avoid an outcome that would raise the “national temperature.” My objection is that Judges should not bend to the will of an insurrectionist simply to placate his supporters.

One down.

Wow. A lifelong Republican voter in Oklahoma just published an op-ed, saying how he “voted for Trump – twice” but that after reading “Liz Cheney's book & the DOJ Jan. 6 indictment,” he totally changed his mind & now will not support Trump this election. This is good.

@GottaLaff that’s great but realistically how many of them can or do read? The majority of them are pretty siloed off from reality.

Today, the administration reached an important milestone: The confirmation of the 175th life-tenured federal judge since Biden took office.

@GottaLaff still lagging behind his predecessor. Durbin is continuing to honor the “blue slip” process, which lets senators from the state where the court sits weigh in on nominations. So Rs are of course stalling the process. McConnell completely ignored that and just turned the senate into a confirmation machine. Why honor non binding practices that the opposition ignores? Makes no sense.
