If any of you have a cat, and have had the problem of her "acolytes" showing up and leaving gifts for "the blessed one" at your door because you let your cat get online and she started a cult... well what do you think is the ethical thing to do with all the gifts?

I know this is a common problem for cat owners, but I'm really struggling.

@futurebird My cats have obviously been slacking off in the cult department. I think two of them have second families, but no worshipful gifts for them deposited at our door.

There are 708,000 police officers in the US.

Will they vote for a convicted felon?

I doubt it.

@randahl They will latch on to the "rigged show trial" narrative and vote for the criminal. The overriding police culture in the US is based on little-to-laughingly-insufficient training, grotesque militarization, toxic masculinity, and the worship of authoritarian ideology.

Somebody in my apartment zoomed around and meowed non-stop at 4am. And this was their response to the alarm at 7am 🤦🏼‍♀️

A calico cat is curled in a ball on a pillow, looking dead to the world.

@elizabethtasker Got an extra large kitten here that decided to maniacally scratch at the back door at 4am. Repeatedly. As if we have ever opened the back door to just let him to go out, at any time. 🙄

So night terrors, sleep paralysis etc. seem to be a real thing. I've had "bad dreams" but never anything that sounds like these experiences. It sounds like it's scary. Scary like when you are home alone and hear a sound and don't know what it is.

I'm curious if people who can have this are can be aware that it's not real when it's happening.

When I get anxious I can also know "this is just that thing" and I'm sort of detached about it?

Can that happen with fear?

@futurebird The only sleep paralysis incident I'm sure I've had (so far) was when I was alone in a hotel room. I woke with a feeling of dread and I saw a large dark shadow figure coming at me from the right. My first reaction was to yell "F*%$ you!" but I couldn't move my mouth, and in that instant I realised it must be sleep paralysis. It was a relief to know what it was, and I eventually was able to move/roll over.
