If any of you have a cat, and have had the problem of her "acolytes" showing up and leaving gifts for "the blessed one" at your door because you let your cat get online and she started a cult... well what do you think is the ethical thing to do with all the gifts?

I know this is a common problem for cat owners, but I'm really struggling.

@futurebird My cats have obviously been slacking off in the cult department. I think two of them have second families, but no worshipful gifts for them deposited at our door.

@futurebird
Accept all gifts on her behalf. Cats exist to be worshiped, so all cat cults are valid.

You do one of 2 things;

  • ceremoniously bury the "gift"

-dry the carcass and extract the skeleton. Then mount in Pica's lair (ikik the entire house but she probs has an "area")

@qotca

Pica has several lairs I think.

There are a few scientists who want to study the mystery of where milk caps go because they think it may have implications for quantum physics-- but Pica has not been very helpful with this and mostly just distracts everyone by being cute.

Anyways I'm terrified to look behind the couch at this point. Who knows what's back there?

@futurebird @qotca

similar problem only with a cocker spaniel and the accumulation is under my bed and not behind the couch (in this case stolen tamales right off the dining room table!)

a cocker spaniel under the bed surrounded by tamale wrappers

@futurebird

Milk caps, yes. Barbie shoes in the drinking water, when my kid was little. Christmas bows, too.

And yes, of COURSE Pica has "several" lairs. We expect nothing less.

@futurebird use mutualAid hashtag to ask if anyone needs each of the gifts .... maybe forget that and don't tell Pica I suggested it.

@futurebird I think I know what “gifts” you’re talking about. I have a few feral cats living in my garage, and needless to mention, one of them will very rarely bring a poor little dead animal on the property.
A portion of my backyard is a pet cemetery…

@futurebird I've read the comments to bury, but tradition requires that gifts to a god be burnt on an alter.

@dan613

I don't think letting Pica have a lighter is a good idea...

@futurebird Once I blocked ChatGPT from my router the problems went away.
