Who cares? Lemmy is literally beta software and it isn't corporate growth driven social media. Also it doesn't have to replace anything. I use a lot of apps. I use both Lemmy and Reddit and always have. I have Instagram too, I also use both Twitter and Mastodon. I have Signal, Snapchat, Linkedin and Nextdoor.I like Lemmy, it is different than Reddit and that is fine. I like it better and have my own server.

No way, it's made by animal testing and I don't trust anyone to actually use that instead of cheaper, subsidized cruelty that is normally served.

Also meat is really unhealthy and unnecessary. I've been vegan almost 10 years now and all my coworkers are suffering diseases from eating a shitty diet but people regularly think I'm 10 years younger than I am. My manager who is younger than me at 43 just had to get stents and had a heart attack. Long story short, I'm not looking to eat like you people ever again.

Keep telling yourself that, recipes run in families too. There is mountains of evidence showing that plant based diets are the healthiest and that saturated fat, where most of the calories in meat come from, is bad for you. The non vegans in my family look like everyone else, I seem to be a genetic marvel along with my wife. Everyone's genetics must have suddenly changed in the past 30 years that somehow turned 50% of people in only rich countries obese and not their shitty diet of increased meat and fat consumption.

This thread is such bullshit is bordering on slanderous on what happened to occupy Wall street. I was there at Zuccati park it is in a lack of focus it isn't a lack of initiative it wasn't a lack of people of color it was the fact that when the trades people came and when the teachers came the police came also with their clubs and they beat the shit out of everybody over the age of 30. My friend's dad who was a teacher in New York City for 40 years got beat so bad he died 3 years later from the injuries sustained. Once they establishment removed anybody with any sort of credibility from the organization the entire thing was mocked and made a joke on TV constantly and this exact phrase about lack of focus was repeated over and over by infiltrators until it became true. You want to know why occupy Wall Street went nowhere it is because the government killed it.

Yeah I don't doubt it, its just superficial bacteria that can be sticky. I think some people have it worse than others and that like the 2 week thing is the sure fire nuclear option that will basically always work. I actually posted this because I'm pretty sure I had this too in my 20s when I was going to the gym all the time but I started shaving and keeping it that way around then and talking about it was like a memory unlocked moment.

The idea that it can be or should be a drop in reddit replacement for people who want to scroll an app while they take a shit. The most fun on Lemmy I have is with my community for vegan cooking that is self contained for the most part and something I couldn't ever get off the ground for years on reddit. I think each community should be essentially hosted on its own instance with other instances being for user accounts and identity that can access the community. The front page of my instance would just be my single on topic community.

I want to start by saying I am extremely thankful for Ruud and the team and think that you did an amazing job with lemmy.world and I wish you success in the future.

That said, I am a monthly 30 dollar donator to Lemmy and I am not interested in Sublinks. I read through the threads and my take is that I think the motivation for the development of it goes against my personal politics and mischaracterizes nutomic and dessalines. While I appreciate the nature of open source to open up avenues for people to act as they think is best, I do not want to leave the Lemmy.

Ahead of a migration to Sublinks I hope there comes a cleaner way to move communities off lemmy.world. If I had known how the Fediverse worked 11 months ago I would have self hosted an instance and shared my communities that way as to not be defederated from people I want to be federated with. Additionally I think that having a single huge lemmy instance is not great for the architecture of the fediverse as a whole and even if there were no changes planned or being considered. I think that many instances hosting communities is preferable to having large ones like lemmy.ml and lemmy.world.

Again I totally get that this is provided free and as is and as such you are free to make the decision you think is best. Even though I am a difficult person, I very much appreciate you, your team and what you are trying to accomplish. Thank you.

Because 10 months ago I chose to host c/veganhomecooks here. I do now use my own instance that I run out of Azure and plan to figure out a way to move my comm there but that is not easy to two click and move, I would lose all the subscribers and posts and it would not be cached on any other federated server. It is currently the largest and most active vegan focused community on the fediverse and do not want to leave it behind.

Because I don't want to make a lateral move to another instance hosted by someone like you and would prefer to do it myself. I work full time and it took me a few months to figure out how to deploy and maintain my instance before I put it to production.

edit: English is not my first language, I didn't mean this to sound attacking. When I said someone like you I meant in general someone that I do not personally know and sometimes the way English speakers cloak language is not clear

We as a community (this lemmy comm is for a discord server) are staunchly against all influencers, celebrity worship and businesses who would use veganism and animal rights to grow their businesses to support non vegans. Celebrity worship is toxic. This includes by extension plant-based meats by meat companies. Come into the discord server if you want to learn more about how these companies use marketing and horizontal segmentation and how it works to grow the consumption of animal products with vegan brands. We do not support any businesses here and use generic names as much as possible in our posts for this reason.

As a person who has worked for various non profits for a long time I don't support any non profits either. If you like this stuff or support it, that is fine and we are not telling other people what to do but this is a mutual aid community focused on vegan cooking and we exist outside the structures of corporate finance and don't like it. I don't like the term content creator and only critically watch any of that stuff.
