Donald J. Trump has one skill as an orator.

People say that he "gish gallops", layering on assertions so thick and fast that it's hard to keep track, and while that's true, he has better pacing than a Ben Shapiro, who's just bloody annoying. That's not his whole schtick.

Trump's monologues may be word salad, but they're packed with catch-phrases, and the ones that get a rise at live events will be repeated. Like a jingle.

When Trump speaks, all I hear is hypnotic repetition.

Oh the irony. To squeeze more out of less at Xitter, Musk will bring back a manager from his tunneling firm to boost productivity by firing more people.

The man's wife runs a real estate firm, maybe they'll be able to secure a hole large enough to push the platform into it, and we can all pretend none of this ever happened.

/ Save the Hostages, Save Israel (Haaretz Editorial)

Haaretz's editorial raises serious questions about the breakdown in the chain of command within the Israeli defense establishment, suggesting that the decision to carry out the assassination of some of the children and grandchildren of Ismail Haniyeh, may have been made without the knowledge or approval of senior political and military leaders. This points to a concerning pattern of reckless decisions, from bombing a university to employing tactics that jeopardize the lives of hostages, that have only served to complicate and prolong the crisis.

[...] The public has no real way of knowing whether the defense establishment failed to inform the government and obtain its approval before the attack; whether it's true that not even the head of Southern Command, much less the military chief of staff, were informed of the attack in advance; or whether the person who approved the attack was the commander of Southern Command's targeting center, an officer with the rank of colonel. Trust in the system is so low that it's hard to accept the explanations that were given without a dose of skepticism.

[...] If the public doesn't turn out en masse to demand that the people responsible for the rolling disaster they have brought down on Israel vacate their offices and give someone else a chance to salvage the situation, the country's future will be at risk, and so will the hostages' lives.

James Kirby: Family of UK aid worker killed in Gaza by Israel 'heartbroken' - as Sunak warns of 'intolerable' situation. (And yet, it is apparent there’s a deadly, deliberate campaign against food distribution & medical personnel in with no real consequences for Israel, not even support for UNSC’s ceasefire vote) @israel @palestine

Jamison Foser points to the "elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about" as the Supremes hear the Trump disqualification case:

"The justices themselves cannot possibly be unaware of the threats and actual violence other public officials, including judges, have faced for implementing the 14th Amendment’s disqualification of Trump."

@wdlindsy You're setting readers up to ignore the reasoning of a judgment incidentally beneficial to the Trump campaign, and to assume that it must be the illegitimate result of nefarious forces.

That's a precise mirror image of what MAGA Trump media are priming their own audience to do.

I understand how thrilling the possibility of a war of all against all must feel, but let's leave that to the movies for the time being, shall we?

To that end, I'll be permanently muting your account. FYI.
