Google won’t open it but Apple are working with GSMA to add the things Google made as proprietary extensions to RCS part of the RCS standard (such as encryption which isn’t in the standard).

That thing was killer. I used it throughout university with my classmates to build the best notebook covering all our lectures, tutorials, etc. We had a habit of dropping in polls for distant sections so we could decide which notes were best to keep etc or needed more work, etc.

Docs is so weak in comparison.

I spent a 2+ years and all my personal savings making this game (alone). I love survival games, but I also like cooking... so how about survival game with realistic cooking & eating animations? ( programming.dev )

Here is the Steam link if anyone interested in: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3054440/The_Short_Snow/

Given the obvious similarities to The Long Dark (even your title nods to the influence), what differs your game from your inspiration? What did you want to expand upon or change?

fartsparkles ,

lol did you put a spoiler in your story about spoilers?

fartsparkles ,

So much of this is overwhelmingly influenced by CRT displays. Hbomberguy’s Scanline episode applies here.

People forget that the research behind those vaccines had been going on for 30+ years. What was accelerated was the trials and the gathering and analysis of efficacy and safety data. The actual vaccine technology had been in existence for around a decade at the time.

Steam Deck is such a godsend for these exact situations. Played through Tactics on my deck earlier in the year.

fartsparkles ,

You got me drooling - any recipe suggestions? I’ve both ingredients in my fridge!

fartsparkles ,

Thanks so much for sharing! I’ll have to experiment for dinner tomorrow (I’m blessed to have a local eco store that sells everything you mentioned).

fartsparkles ,

Please share where you found them, if you do.

It’s also a bunch of brainfarting drivel that could be summarized:

Before we accidentally make an AI capable of posing existential risk to human being safety, perhaps we should find out how to build effective safety measures first.

Or

Read Asimov’s I, Robot. Then note that in our reality, we’ve not yet invented the Three Laws of Robotics.

I doubt it’ll be impossible as Google will be required by many laws around the world to make it clear if something is an advert, especially in the EU. So there will be a mechanism to know if something in the stream is an advert or not.

Adblockers should be able to adapt but I do think SponsorBlock might be stuffed if users are seeing adverts at different times in the stream.

2024 One Page Dungeon Contest 'Full Circle' ( www.dungeoncontest.com )

The theme for the 2024 One Page Dungeon Contest is 'Full Circle.' Let your creativity flow as you explore this theme in any way you envision. Whether you design a dungeon that loops back on itself in a never-ending cycle, a mystical maze where adventurers must confront the consequences of their past actions, or a legendary...

I absolutely love this competition. Past submissions have been indispensable for adding excitement to campaigns in sessions I need a little help expanding when players go in a direction I didn’t anticipate (I love saying YES).

I’m so glad to see this is back. I strongly recommend splashing out and buying past year’s compendiums - there’s so much gold in there you can easily tweak to fit into your games.

I think you’re right in inferring that OP is confusing DOS with BIOS but technically, plenty of old computers and early video game consoles like the Atari 2600 didn’t have a BIOS and would immediately execute the code on the tape, disk, or cartridge. Some old computers had bootstrapping but that’s not really BIOS in the IBM sense.

The bizarre thing is, they have solved it. PowerToys Run is the Spotlight omnibar of everything and they bizarrely haven’t chosen to bake it into Windows proper. I can’t use Windows without it now. Search files and folders everywhere faster than the start menu search, search running processes, execute commands, do maths, calculate hashes, open web pages. It’s fantastic.

Most compromises live in user space. Locking down the kernel is great and all but “most attacks” are running as the logged in user doing operations that user is permitted to do.

Back in 2001, I was walking along the street and passed a new BMW and all I could think was △ △ △.

Took me a beat to realise GTA III was fucking with my mind.

I remember mocking how ugly the controller looked (like an obese parody of the Dreamcast’s) but then I held it. As I large-handed person, it was so comfortable after years of Japanese pads designed for smaller hands. I just wish they still made the thing but with all the modern upgrades so I could use it with my PC.

Mozilla Foundation has a wholly owned subsidiary that is Mozilla Corporation that is for-profit.

For instance the revenue from Google, so they’re the default search engine, is seen by Mozilla Corporation. So things search-related will indeed be part of their for-profit arm.

fartsparkles ,

It’s not a loophole. As a subsidiary, profits are still invested into the nonprofit and they’re still guided by the Mozilla manifesto. It just lets them do more and raise more funds which would be difficult to do with nonprofit status (selling default search engine for instance). Here’s their original press release when they incorporated Mozilla Corporation in 2005.

Perhaps it’s the hangover but… huh? I don’t get it. Please help. Kind regards.

A7C is E-mount right? There’s the 16mm F2.8, 20mm F2.8, and PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS that are all more compact than the 35mm F1.8. They’re cheap lenses too.

fartsparkles ,

The game is 23 years old… I feel old now.

fartsparkles ,

They need to do the same with the sequel that starred David Hayter (voice actor of Solid Snake in the 1998 to 2010 games).

I had to migrate from Samba AD to Windows Server AD and I'm sad (RIP Samba)

Samba is amazing, Windows server is a lot less so. The problem with Windows server is that it takes tons of steps to do basic things. On Samba I had Samba tool and it was very nice and friendly. On Windows server you have a ton of different management panels....

Why not OpenLDAP? I’ve refused to run a Windows server at home for years and I’ve OpenLDAP running nicely in a lightweight container.

fartsparkles ,

And honestly, I find his phrasing today far more damming with its conciseness. It screams leadership.

fartsparkles ,

I’m glad to be a patient gamer. Can’t wait to play this in two years when all the bugs are ironed out and the game is discounted 70% during a Steam sale.

fartsparkles ,

I’ve worked with banks running older OSs than 95 .

fartsparkles ,

I don’t get it.

fartsparkles ,

That’sa common misconception about worms. Cut a worm in half, you either get a dead worm or half a living worm and half a dead worm.

fartsparkles ,

It’s a feature and a bug!

fartsparkles ,

Quite often it’s another payload that installed the browser extension on the user’s host.

SEO poisoning or malicious adverts, for instance posing as legitimate tools like FileZilla etc, leads to a malicious payload (loader, RAT, etc) that in turn downloads and installs the malicious browser extension.

Install adblockers. Genuinely. It’s insane how many adverts on Google and Bing etc are straight up malicious. It’s been a problem for years now.

fartsparkles ,

Unnecessary journalist fluff around the source material from Mozilla.

fartsparkles ,

No one could have foreseen this. No one. Not a sausage.

fartsparkles ,

What the hell are they claiming that lady did to him? Not acknowledge him when he fapped to her on MTV?

Old article from November 2022. No idea why OP is posting it. The Adult Survivors Act covered the period of November 24, 2022, to November 24, 2023 so this is genuinely old news.

    fartsparkles ,

That’s so lovely! I need to buy one for a few of my friends then haha! Thanks for explaining.
