Dear @firefox : Please stop saving images as webp when I drag them out of the browser. Forever stop that. Even if they are webp originally, just give me a setting to auto-convert them to JPEG. When I get a webp file the first thing I have to do is convert it manually if I'm going to do anything with it.

It's not, that's almost exclusive to lemmy.world.

How to make it so frequently used sites don't constantly require 2FA?

I know two factor authentication is considered more secure than just passwords, but here’s the deal: One of my family members uses Linux Mint on their laptop (at my recommendation and yes, they are aware that it’s not a Mac), and while they’ve mostly adapted to the different workflows (coming from a macbook), one of their...

Just allow cookies for those websites. You can do it by clicking the lock to the left of the search bar and enabling "Always store cookis/data for this site"

eya ,
@eya@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

You backup your 2FA locally. Problem solved.

If you're using the cloud for anything related to security you're doing something wrong. (In my opinion)

I just use Mullvad with wireguard, not very hard to setup.

If nobody has guns nobody needs guns, pretty simple

eya ,
@eya@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I completely agree that minority groups in America should arm themselves, it's unrealistic to think that guns will ever be banned in America, and better safe than sorry.

However, in an ideal world (and most places) nobody would have guns, hence nobody would need a gun.

To this day, GAG still hasn’t addressed the issue or cut ties with Scarcella.

Why? The reason is very simple: because two people saying something on Twitter isn't proof of anything.

Google Allows Creditors to Brick Your Phone ( lemmy.world )

I installed NetGuard about a month ago and blocked all internet to apps, unless they're on a whitelist. No notifications from this particular system app (that can't be disabled) until recently when it started making internet connection requests to google servers. Does anyone know when this became a thing?...

Unfortunately GrapheneOS still only supports Google Pixels, otherwise I would use something else in a heartbeat

Mullvad has a public DNS service, would recommend checking that out. Supports DoH, DoT, and is encrypted.

So basically... completely remove the purpose of 2FA?

eya ,
@eya@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

If your computer gets compromised and you store your passwords on it (as most do) then you are also storing your 2fa on it, then there is no 2fa.

eya ,
@eya@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

whatever token/cookie you will get from the authentication will be also compromised

This assumes you are already logged in. If you aren't logged in then 2FA will protect you, unless of course you store your 2FA in your browser like an idiot.

a lot more issues

Okay but that isn't relevant at all.

Any LLM chat bot or image generator that is open source, privacy based and doesn't need an account or app to use it ?

I found one but after a limit you cannot use it anymore without making an account now i can surpass it by using different ip but the conversation wouldn't go in a flow and it will get tiresome fast so if anyone know one which meets these criteria do comment ....

Registering an account is just a username, no password or email. (Generated API key is your password)

The Lemmy devs in general are not exactly known for being great people. Luckily the project is open source, and if they want to fuck around and find out then they can.

    Proprietary software = software thats not open source

    yes its still followed

    yes its still relevant

    if the software is closed source then you dont know if it respects your privacy or not, and 99% of the time it doesnt

    I searched up "Lemmy" on the PlayStore and noticed that Reddit appears right before the last lemmy client in that search X3 do u guys know if there r any other lemmy clients worth trying? I randomly felt like trying all I could find and for now I'll stay on Jerboa and the Web UI but I use Voyager too now, mainly for DMs

    why do people use boost? heard it has ads in it. not to mention it collects and shares data. it baffles me why anyone would use it over something like voyager. (also its a proprietary app for a FOSS project)
