The irony is not lost on me that the Internet Archive went out of its way to acquire the physical versions of millions of books and loan them out carefully and in a limited way, and is facing a near-extinction-level event over it, while for-profit and VC-backed companies are just stealing people’s content and making up excuses to validate the bad behavior.

Just realized that I was missing a bunch of RSS feeds from newsletters like Garbage Day, which had left Substack. These newsletters took their subscriber lists with them when they switched, but didn't do an RSS redirect.

Friendly reminder! If you switch mailing list providers and don't redirect your RSS, you're going to lose a lot of readers!

@pluralistic This was one benefit of FeedBurner. It made stuff like this easy for non-technical people. I think Beehiiv probably needs to do more to surface this in their system.

I use a paid tool, FeedPress, to manage things like this, and it works well.

Like does the villain or a side character stop the main character right before the villain is killed and gives them a Reason Why You Suck speech deconstructing the main character's motivations for revenge, or anything like that?
