The majority of those days forecast are in the '80s FYI.

doingthestuff ,

This is also how you check if your ass is clean.

doingthestuff ,

Not very many humans use the word mum, statistically.

doingthestuff ,

I shouldn't be such an ass. Lots of people use mum! And some good friends of mine.

doingthestuff ,

I mean that's cool and all but that's not really a debunking of biblical creation or sexual order if you take it at what it says and not what traditional religion tells you it says. There wasn't supposed to be death, so animals shouldn't have eaten each other. It also describes something like an asexual heaven. So even if homosexuality isn't in the eternal perfection, everything now is imperfect so it's just like everything else.

Prosecutors say Alec Baldwin was ‘engaged in horseplay’ with gun before fatal shooting ( www.theguardian.com )

Fewer than three weeks before actor Alec Baldwin is due to go on trial in Santa Fe, New Mexico, prosecutors have said that he “engaged in horseplay with the revolver”, including firing a blank round at a crew member on the set of Rust before the tragic accident occurred....

doingthestuff ,

Wasn't Baldwin at some level responsible for the armorer though too? Was he the producer or something?

doingthestuff ,

The rules about don't aim at something you don't want to destroy absolutely apply because it was a real gun. That rule applies even when you know the gun is unloaded because you checked it yourself. Been shooting 45 years (I'm 50) and no problems ever because I was taught and follow the safety rules.

When I was 21 and moving into a shitty rental with my now wife, the place didn't have AC and we moved in during a terrible heat wave. We bought one window unit so we could at least sleep at night. Later bought one more to make the whole space livable. Those units aren't expensive, pick up an extra shift or two and you can buy one. When we moved into a place with central air we sold one and gave one away.

doingthestuff ,

Agreed. If it's law they'll get it done (mostly, there are always bad landlords in court). But there are still a lot of places where it isn't law, and I'm not just talking about the US. But if it's too hot to be at home, spend a little extra time at work and fix the problem.

doingthestuff ,

I agree with your comment but your numbers are all way too low.

doingthestuff ,

Always has been. Do you know the story of Jacob and Esau and the cost of a lentil stew for a starving brother?

doingthestuff ,

Is this copypasta or have we just witnessed the birth of a new one?

doingthestuff ,

What he's really saying he wants to do is wait to see how successful FO5 turns out and then maybe release them later when the work will have already been done by hackers.

doingthestuff ,

It's honestly kind of cliche though at this point. It's a dog whistle for anti-speech. Like as if the theater was actually on fire you still wouldn't be allowed to shout fire.

doingthestuff ,

The headline makes it sound like Japan is a car company

doingthestuff ,

I work with a guy named Jason Voorhees. He was born after the character was already infamous.

doingthestuff ,

Yeah we don't have savings. My bills doubled, my pay went up 4%. But daily pay isn't a bad thing. Paired with great wages & benefits it would be fantastic, why let the man earn interest on my wages?

doingthestuff ,

This is why we need to defund and eliminate all of our agencies and start all over. Anyone at the top can't be rehired in any capacity. This is why people are ready to reelect Trump. To say our government is corrupt and completely fucked up is a massive understatement.

doingthestuff ,

In many places in the world, politicians are not elected to be leaders but rather representatives of the will of the people who elected them. And a lot of people do not want to give the government massive power because of climate concerns. They're voting for their wallets. And the representatives represent the will of the people. I understand a lot of Europe votes for climate-aware representatives, but much of the world just wants to have food on the table.

doingthestuff ,

His motives for being there were all fucked up, but it was self defense.

doingthestuff ,

I downvoted because it doesn't give a good description of right-to-work and/or at-will employment, or include differences or the way the law applies in different areas. It's too broad of a post without enough specific relevant application to local law scenarios. It's opening a can of worms and could be misunderstood.

doingthestuff ,

This is why my cat knows she can't lay on me. She'll lay on my wife, on my daughter. But she won't even try with me, and I'm the only person she lets rub her belly. She loves me and I love her but I set boundaries.

doingthestuff ,

If I've read my last free article, I guess I've read my last article.

doingthestuff ,

How I feel about their statement depends greatly upon what they consider intimidation. We should all have the right to air our grievances against our governments and governing bodies. In the US that's part of our rights, and that doesn't go away just because it's in some other place. If they're idiots, we should be able to fucking call them out. Let their work and integrity stand for itself, if they don't have it then they are going to be intimidated by public outcry and that is great!

doingthestuff ,

English speakers laugh at you too.

Don't kill me, it's a joke.

doingthestuff ,

And also actual old-fashioned slavery. I've read there are more slaves in the world today than there were in the 1700s. Even modern western countries aren't immune, it's just more invisible .Sex trafficking is a good chunk of this.

doingthestuff ,

Yeah I definitely don't have healthcare. And rights vary to a great extent by location. Except the 4th Amendment, it's dead everywhere.

doingthestuff ,

Yes but also "too high of an income" isn't even a living wage.

doingthestuff ,

To be fair this is only mostly true. They've strengthened 2nd Amendment rights.

doingthestuff ,

Seriously where can I get these in the US? This is great advertising.

doingthestuff , (edited )

They should do a show in the US Georgia instead, which is what the headline made me think of anyway.

For the downvoters, just a reminder that US Georgia is twice as big and has three times the people.

doingthestuff ,

And Nazis were originally socialist. The list goes on...

doingthestuff ,

This would have been a weird day because I was 40 in 2013.

doingthestuff ,

More jobs aren't great when people need two or three each to survive. Fix wages yesterday already.

doingthestuff ,

What Nazi shit was he doing? I want more info too.

doingthestuff ,

Honestly it's funny, I read right and left wing content and the only people who ever mentioned this dumb treestump are people on the left. It's like the right doesn't even want to admit she's on their side.

doingthestuff ,

I don't watch Fox News but that's not too surprising.

doingthestuff ,

More than a third of US children do not live with both of their biological parents. If we are okay with separating human children from their parents, why should we treat cows better?

doingthestuff ,

It feels the same as No Justice No Peace but of course by justice he means he gets the convictions overturned.

doingthestuff ,

Cops never keep people safe. They keep property safe.

bffr and look up what solidarity is ( lemmy.cafe )

Solidarity denotes the unity and mutual support among individuals with shared objectives, crucial in protests for reinforcing collective resolve. Protests are strategically held in high-visibility, disruptive locations to maximize impact and draw public and institutional attention. This disruption compels acknowledgment of the...

doingthestuff ,

This is effective in areas that permit it, particularly blue parts of the US (from an American perspective). You have to be more careful in red areas. Disruption is generally some kind of infraction. Although protest in general is constitutionally protected in traditional free speech zones, any small breach of the law will be met with the excessive force of the law.
