Toshiba oddly enough. I've been burnt by the big names like Seagate a few times now.

blahsay ,

If the user can't figure it out you built it wrong

blahsay ,

Kinda metal. Particularly since I'm guessing he killed that shark himself

blahsay ,

OK that's cool! I'm wondering how this will effect homelessness though

blahsay ,

That looks awesome. How many oompaloompas did it take to operate?

blahsay ,

Such a beautiful concept and execution

blahsay ,

Well we found it....most impressive fart in the universe.

Seriously though that's awesome. Real life death star right there

The Supreme Court Is on the Verge of Criminalizing Homelessness ( newrepublic.com )

As more people end up experiencing homelessness, they’re also facing increasingly punitive and reactionary responses from local governments and their neighbors. Such policies could become legally codified in short order, with the high court having agreed to hear arguments in Grants Pass v. Johnson....

blahsay ,

I've got this idea. Maybe all the homeless people should be rounded up and sent to an island somewhere.

We will call that place...Ustralia.

blahsay ,

Because propaganda works.

  • The USA created some thoroughly disproven 'rape' charges (it was never a rape charge but that was the media reporting and most people don't read beyond headlines).

  • Classic painting of him as a traitor. We have 'evidence' you can't see that he works for [insert enemy here]

Fascists unite!

Just don't drink the tea....

blahsay ,

Ccp censorship in Europe. Shameful.

Good the authors have morals at least.

blahsay ,

I have this image of these things zooming around with go cart engines. Might be fun if they're all remote controlled

blahsay ,

The biggest problem in the states is your polarisation. Lots of internal idiots and external governments causing that.

If you want to fight against it find the centre.

Here's some truth for you:

  • People on either side of politics generally mean well
  • 99.99...% of Republicans arent Nazis
  • 99.99...% of Democrats don't want to turn your kids trans
  • Both sides generally have at least a few fair points about any given topic.
  • Compromising is the best answer
blahsay , (edited )

It's bizarre to me to hear someone so polarised but let's try to talk it out

You raised a few things.

  • No democrats want to turn kids trans.
I've personally met people who are so pro trans that they encourage their kids to transition. It is a thing. Yes I think it's morally reprehensible. I struggle understanding this but I think it's their way of supporting trans people?

  • Republicans are nazis.
Nazis exist and are largely right wing. They're extremely rare though. Keep in mind a few things too. The left wing has identical institutions with the same methods and level of racism, just slightly switched goals. I think everyone willing to use violence against a particular people or race are bad and I see no distinction whether your politics are left or right. I'd encourage you to realise the violence and prejudice are the problem regardless of the politics.

blahsay ,

They're on lemmy too.

Hyper aggressive accounts on either side of politics.

blahsay ,

It's hard to do. I might add some code

China have their toes in a lot of pies. The South Park episode 'Banned in China' is worth a watch also.

blahsay ,

If cats can eat grass, entire mice, and weirdly even potato chips then I'm pretty sure salami is fine

blahsay ,

Good. Regardless of your thoughts on Assange they're torturing him over there and that is not an acceptable punishment for anything.

Many Americans believe migrants bring fentanyl across the border. That's wrong and dangerous ( www.latimes.com )

About 90% of the fentanyl seized at the border in recent years was at legal crossings, which undocumented migrants generally avoid, and 91% of the seizures were from U.S. citizens, according to Border Patrol data. It’s much easier to transport fentanyl pills or powder in one of the thousands of vehicles that pass through legal...

blahsay ,

I'm curious about those stats. 90% of fentanyl is seized from legal crossings and 10% presumably from illegal ones. Isn't that a confirmation bias?

Presumably they don't find any significant proportion of illegal migrants so they don't really have any idea how much is coming in.

I'm not saying migrants bad but this kind of article is just poor journalism.

blahsay ,

The stats seem poorly explained. I'm not sure if it's as you suggest or not based on the article.

It'd be pretty easy to make it plain so I'm guessing it's not a good faith article.

blahsay ,

Putin should have just invited Ukraine for a cup of tea. He's pretty bad at the other way

blahsay ,

You're not imagining it. I'm pretty sure you can see regular work from propaganda teams on lemmy. I'd love to see the backed logs to confirm it.

They tend to work in very hostile teams to brigade topics.

blahsay ,

It's interesting right?

I'm thinking the architecture of the fediverse makes it particularly vulnerable to these sorts of attacks.

I'm pretty sure I've spotted bots circle jerking on some subjects also which makes me think there's a few different sources.

blahsay ,

If I was designing an anti troll/bot system I'd implement a few things. Let's call any bad actor on here a bot/troll or broll for ease.

  1. Reputation based posting isn't a bad idea if carefully done
  2. When a broll is banned any users from the same ip are flagged a suspect and a subsequent ban causes delayed posting from that ip. If a VPN the instance host list has the same effect applied. Exceptions based on Reputation.
  3. You can check if text is ai/llm generated and an automated api check before posting and immediate ban if found.
  4. Checks on if a user posts inhumanly fast or is oddly active etc would be sensible.
  5. Any broll system has to be adaptive and measures taken need to be kept secret (this post for example).
blahsay ,

Thanks but not sure what's currently implemented or even what the code base is written in 😅.

I might have a poke around and see if there's any low hanging fruit.

Call me crazy but with a 5b ipo about to start I'd be shocked if reddit wasn't paying some troll farms to brigade the fediverse and it'd be a shame if spez wins

blahsay ,

Awesome 👍 I'm more c#/Java, angular if there's anything I can contribute.

blahsay ,

He didn't seem very sincere tbh. Odd

blahsay ,

The odds of someone coming up with the same sentence as an llm within common sense bounds of time far exceed winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning.

Your second point is straight up nonsense. This platform is for humans to interact. The use of bots is inherently deceptive.

Fascinating to have someone argue for them. I think the backend logs will be pretty illuminating.

blahsay ,

I'm currently on holidays but that sounds great when I return. I might even get started early. Can you pm the details?

blahsay ,

Thanks. Yeah that was odd

blahsay ,

You're wrong and don't have the technical knowledge to understand why and I can't be asked explaining it.

Relax, it won't affect that case.

blahsay OP ,

Damn! I already threw away my safety harness!

blahsay OP ,

Probably slightly safer than what he's doing as a bonus too 😂

blahsay ,

Hannity would flip over for anyone with $3.50.

He's just a money weather vane.

blahsay ,

Oh with obvious exceptions once inside Europe etc.

blahsay ,

Lol there's no forts if that's what you have in mind. But there's border controls and limited walls where people hit the border. If people start entering illegally they extend the walls as needed.

Recent examples would be Colombia, Finland and Greece

blahsay ,

Wow people really don't want these protestors investigated for foreign interference.

Very worrying.

blahsay ,

At least it didn't injure anything he was using
